MS3 to S2000?

I've been kicking around the idea of replacing my MS3 with an S2000 once the warranty is out. This will most likely be in about 1.5 yrs as I drive a lot. I know this wouldn't be the wisest financial decision but I'm really digging the S2000 and would be willing to take a slight blow financially if that's what I had to do to own one. I'm leaning more towards a certified pre-owned one with less than 30k miles as a new one isn't exactly cheap 34-36k. I'm pretty confident that I could get one as described for 25-28k which wouldn't be a bad deal at all.

What to you guys think?

s2000 is a terribly daily driver/ only vehicle.
It's Honda's version of reliable 2 seater sports car. There are many daily tasks and needs that are not well suited to a small sports car. Of those who I know that purchased one for daily duty, they all regretted it badly and ended up taking a hit financially to get out of it.

If you already have a 2nd vehicle that can do daily duties then the s2000 is a great weekender.

Excellent drivers car. Motor and chassis are very well balanced. if you want a little roadster that can run SCCA all day long the Honda is a good bet.

The fiscally responsible side of me says: Keep the MS3 till it's paid off and then some. It's plenty fast, decent enough handling, seats 4 semi-comfy, and lots of utility. Unless you've got cash to burn, swapping cars is not a wise financial choice even if you only take a small loss.

The S2000 is a fun car. Lively handing and its a convertible so whats not to love. But on the other hand its SUPER impractical and a torqueless wonder to be sure.

It's your cash but I'd keep the MS3......or get a 350 Z convertible instead :)
What can I say, I love torque....yet I drive a P5. This makes me sad.

Here is a helpful suggestion. pinch a few pennies over the next year and use that cash to buy a used miata that you can fix up and use as a playtoy :)

Thanks for all the feedback thus far guys!

As for the S2000 being a terrible daily driver with virtually no practically in other words, I would have to disagree to some extent. I've driven one on nurmous occasions and felt very comfortable in it. Yes I've driving it in heavy stop and go traffic and didn't find it to be all that unbearable, granted the MS3 is might be a little more comfortable in these types of situations. Have you all seen the trunk in the S2000? You can actually fit enough s*** in there for a weekend get-way at least.

The S2000 is so fun to drive and I fit like a glove in one (5'9 - 150lbs). The ergonomics of the car are phenomenal in my opinion, feels like your in a little race car which I totally dig. I know it doesn't have much in the TQ dept but the engine revs so high and freely that it doesn't matter all that much to me. Oh and the clutch / shifter arrangement is insanely nice, so easy to drive. Almost forgot, I'm single so it might help me out a little in other areas if you know what I mean  lol!

It's true it's a pig of a car and no where near as nice as the coupe, but I'd still get one over an S2000. But overall I like the used miata idea. Good compromise.

do it, nice car.. question is do you really want to go from a 4 door with lots of room to a 2 seater? my friend had an s2000 but the car had no room so he bought a wrx and sold the S

That's a good question and one I've asked myself on more than one occasion. Here's the kicker, during the time when I first got the MS3 I was in a serious relationship with the g/f and her daughter. The extra room in this situation was a huge bonus obviously. However, now that I'm single with no kid I'm finding that the extra space / utility that the MS3 has to offer arent being put to good use any longer. Most of the time its just me being in the car with copious amounts of empty space if you know what I mean, lol!

i love riding around in a convertible, so I cant blame you for thinking about it... for me, trading a car in for a loss is not a good idea ever though. If you have some cash to spare, a used roadster like the miata would be a smarter chioce. Im considering selling my truck to buy a jeep to satisfy my top down cravings, but I would seriously miss the utility of that 8 foot bed!

I agree and that's why I'm only kicking around the idea at the moment.
A used Miata might just be what I end up getting but I've never driven one. How do they compare to the S2000's? Yeah convertibles are a lot of fun, especially here in Florida! Every time I see someone in a convertible they have the biggest s*** eating grin on their face, which I envy.

Here are a few pics for s**** and giggles:

Ha-ha! Never mind I guess maintenance is being done or something. Says: Error on page when I try to insert attachment. I'll try again laters.

Convertibles are really wasted for much of the year in florida. It's so damned hot you just cook in em :)

Been there, done that. Former owner of several drop tops here...

Miata maybe a handling monster too, but I think the s2k is still better.(Just to clarify, I am saying you should go for a miata here) If I were you, I would look back to the 99-01s, or maybe into those blue 94' with a black top. sexy. Then if you want some major power, talk with Monster Miata lol.

I absolutely don't think putting a V8 that is only putting out 250 hp is smart, but I hear they are nasty vette killers.
