MS3 owers with babies/toddlers/kids?

Yes, good eye. We did cross the border for the car since when we wanted the car back in August '06, Canada had slim pickings and only offered the car in true red. I wasn't a big fan of the color and liked the TPMS and leather that the US offered. There were no deals on interest rates back then, so the US looked like the logical choice. And even though the dollar was still down at 85 cents, I saved about $3000 bringing it up from the US.

Wow, great info here. I'm getting close to swooping up an MS3 this July and was having the exact same questions. Thanks for the pics!!

AlbertaMS3, how tall are you and the husband and who drives when you are both out with the kids? I'm 6'1" and I really need the seat all the way back and see no room for a childseat, forward or rear facing, behind me when I drive. In fact, my son, who has out grown the booster, is hard pressed to sit behind me unless I move it up, which makes me uncomfortable.

If the child-seat is behind you, and the baby has to have the car-seat facing the back........ you do not want that seat behind the driver's seat even if you are 5'8". Its uncomfortable for even a few miles.

I have the baby seat behind the passenger seat, and when my friend (6'3")goes in the car, I just let him drive and I sit in the passenger seat.

Hi, it's Dwayne's wife, Jen again...

Dwayne is 6'3"... the seat can not be all the way back (passenger side), but it is back enough that it is comfortable enough for trips around town. He would not want to take a road trip sitting in the passenger seat. I have room to stretch my legs out in the same seat, but I am 5'7"... I do have long legs (wear a 34" inseam pant), but not as long as his. ;)

Here's a shot of the resulting leg room in the front seat with the rear facing Marathon behind him. Please excuse the dinner plate and winter boots... he graciously came out for a quick shot during dinner. :D

Dwayne drives all the time with his seat all the way back when we are out as a family in the MS3. My 6 year old sits behind him in a Radian (forward facing harnessed seat) with enough room for his legs... actually, he has the exact same amount of room that an adult would have in that same position (which means not much ;) - but it is the same amount of room that anyone would have). The Radian is really nice because it is a low profile seat with no base and sits fairly far back in the vehicle seat. There's a picture of my 6 yo in it in my earlier post. It also has low sides, which means that it's easy for my 6 yo to cross his legs to get comfy for long trips (6+ hours).

Now that my 3 yo is forward facing, we have the Marathon forward facing behind DH and our 6 yo rides on the passenger side. At 3 yo, M has more than enough room for his legs behind Dwayne.

I know in another 3 years we'll just start taking other vehicles for trips... both boys are already taking after daddy and will be *tall*, so that backseat only works so well once you've got taller kids/adults in it. ;)

Forward facing seat in the middle

Has anyone been able to put a forward facing seat in the middle? I have an evenflo and can fit it in the middle on the Tribute but there's no anchor in the back for the middle seat on the MS3. Anybody got any ideas on how to fit it?(dunno)

We have two in ours so I've not looked, however, is there room to use the inside latch point from either side to hold it down?

Overall though, I wouldn't stress too much as while the center would be a bit safer, I think with Side Curtain airbags and overall good safety of the car, I would think the little one would be fine. I would suggest perhaps putting it behind the drivers seat as to keep them away from a side impact upon a left turn.

don't get the car if you're gonna have more than one child. my wife and i have a 2 1/2 year old and we plan on having another shortly. that is why we also bought a Pathfinder with 3 rows. my daughter absolutely loves the car. she even imitates the BOV when it hisses. try different car seats because if your child happens to have long legs like my daughters, your passenger won't be too comfortable with their knees in their chest, lol. there is plenty of room for one child but 2, i don't think so unless you plan on buying a bigger second vehicle to add to your garage.

all the kids in my neighborhood love my car. just the sight and sound of it. it's no doubt that your children will love the car too but like i said, if you have more than 1, it's probably gonna be cramped. hope this helps.

PEACE LOVE RESPECT!!
