MS3 gear lockout

im sure it cant just be me but its a indecisive thing when im railing on the car whether its going into third or not. i was told it can be fixed by changing the tranny fluid to the rt-90 fluid on **********, but im not sure i want to spend the 60+ bucks for a 50 50 shot at fixing it. anyone else have this problem sometimes and/or has anybody swapped to the higher viscosity tranny fluid yet?

tranny fluid is not your problem. The engine does a back flip everytime u shift. U need a rear motor mount.

Try getting into gear smoother. Don't wail on it.


Do you have any issues getting into fifth? if so, it might be a problem with the gear linkages.

no, no problems getting into 5th. and i have the motor mount i just havent gotten around to getting it in. ill drop it in this week sometime and let you know. i watched a vid on you tube with a ms3 on a dyno and yes....the motor does do a f*in backflip. youd figure the reaction of people of how much the motor torques, they would have corrected that before production. plus the amount of wheel hop without the mount too.

MT-90 was the biggest mod i have done thus far .... shifts are about 250% smoother, and gear engagement feels soooooo much better.

rear mount and synthetic tranny fluid (mt-90 75w-90) will do you good !

its the mount... it used to happen to me also when i was power shifting.
talk to protege garage about the new mount coming out soon.
i have a prototype of it on my car and it is wayyyyy better than anything the competition has !!

I already have a motor mount. just havent installed it yet. i put in my new boost tubes and i saw a small dif in the spooling time. im installing my CAI tomorrow. my 3'' turbo back at the end of the week with pypes mini cat and megan carbon titanium muffler, (hopefully), and my carbon fiber autometer gauges when my pods come in. i have so much s*** im waiting on. i hate waiting. im not a patient man. i cant wait to save enough money for my new TMIC. anyway, so yea. im installing it this week....sorry for the ramble.
