Mr. Clean Auto Dry

my dad uses it all the time on his truck... very little water spots. you still have to use a sponge to get off the stuck on stuff. i like it, but it gets expensive... the water filters only last a few washes

it works!! I LOVE IT. I will buy it sometime when i get the money. Aiken and I washed our cars with it. holy s***. makes me not want to wash my car normally anymore.

it works well, but that only helps on the 10 minute part of the wash..the clay bar..the polish..then wax..still can't be replaced.

I beg to differ. The filter and soap that come with the kit are only good for three washes. But, the ones you buy seperately last at least ten washes if not more. I'm pretty wasteful with my soap, so I go through it faster than filters, but not by too much.

In answer to the initial question yes it works and it is worth the money. It's the first thing I think I have ever bought that works as well as advertised. Check sig to view results. Those pics were shot less than an hour after I finished washing it and that was with zero drying of any kind.

You guys know that a good chamois cost like $10 and will last forever right?

I guess I don't see the value in spending the money for Mr. Clean when drying takes like 5 minutes.
You sure would if you lived in a place that had so many minerals in the water that in the time it took to dry your roof your windows already resembled an inverse Dalmation.

I know how that goes but here its even worse because I have to deal with the heat it stays a good 90 or so after the sun is down but im lucky my friend has a mobile detail business so I just use his equipment and his filtered water

Definitely worth it, if you are looking for a quickie wash. Keep in mind like mchaggis said if you are ddoing hardcore detailing and stuff, it's not going to save you much time.

But at a dollar a wash (after getting replacement stuff), you can't beat it.

Sorry for the confusion, i was reffering to the filter and soap that came with the kit. i havent bought replacement ones yet (I need to though).

I'm the same way, lots of minerals, and in the 90 degree weather its insane, plus the black car is hotter than any other color car. by the time i finish trying one side of the hood and walk over to the other side it's water spotted.

My friend lives about 10 minutes away from me and they have well water, not city water. So when I can I go over there to wash my car so I don't get the water spots (as much).

I think the starter kit is like $18 now and the refills are usually like $4 for the soap and $6 for the filter. I could be wrong though, those are Hawaii prices.

Those are IL prices as well. I've seen the starter kit as low as 15-16 in different ads. Just gotta time it right I suppose. I bought it for 19.44 but I had an emp discount thru walmart so it wasn't so bad for me...

I have mixed opinions of it after using it a couple times. I LOVE not having to dry it but it makes the dirt on your car cling to the wash mit so much it turns black, and this was only after a 2 weeks w/o a wash. The soap is just gummy. Anyone know if washing your car w/a bucket and other soap (NOT using the soap in the attachment) and then just rinsing it w/the filtered water would work? Last time I put the soap in a bucket instead and still wasn't 100% happy. BUT, I love not having to dry so it's a toss up!

I'm gonna use it again tonight; it's not that I totally hate it, I just like my mitts going back to white when I'm done. :D

I know what you mean. The Mr. Clean soap is sticky. Unfortunately, you really can't use the system with another type of soap and have the same effect. The soap is actually a more integral part of the process than the filtered water because the polymer in the soap is what actually makes it dry so quickly and makes the water sheet off rather than bead up. There have actaully been times when I was in a hurry and didn't even use the filtered water and it still driep up with no spotting.

The main comlaint I have of the system is the fil the soap leaves. It makes the paint look nice and shiny, but it films up the windows. I was noticing it tonight especially.

But, all great thing with cars involve a trade off. The Auto Dry system is great for week to week (in my case day to day) washes. But, it can never replace a true quality detailing.

Indeed. I agree. It's the film that def turns me off. It stuck to my nails! :wtf: I see what you're saying about the soap, it makes sense. You're right, it's a trade off w/almost any product. (shrug)
