MPes--- MSP

Hey does anyone know if the essential 2.0 can basically bolt into a MSP, my msp engine ate cylinder 4s piston ring and it scored the cylinder wall. I have my eye on a ms3 engine swap. But if I can buy an ES motor and put it on and bolt the 10 psi turbo and intake on, will it work. I read the compression ratio is the same 9:1:1, I've read the internals are the same... so are they? Can it? Or is the head completely different and will I have to reduce the timing and hate my life?

All proteges including the MSP have the exact same engine, same intake manifold, TB, pistons, rods, crank, block, head, cams, etc. Only differences are external, the water lines for the turbo, the MBSP with the turbo oil drain tapped into it and the oil cooler, all of which can be swapped over.

So will my computer and wire harness just transfer over? I have everything external. So the head of the es is the same as the speed, why didn't they change anything, so all.they did was added a turbo? I think the intake is different

All they did was add a turbo, the intake is the exact same. It would cost a lot more to change anything on the engine, I assume they were trying to keep the sticker price low

Wow, it's almost sad they kind of butchered the car by not changing any internals, a 10 psi max is low. I love the car too, we'll thanks for the info guys!

My last question is do I need to swap.my.computee or can I use the one that's already in the car

Considering what they were building the msp to compete with it was pretty damn good for the asking price ha. Consider yourself lucky to have such a massive number of cheap easy to get engines and parts ha.

I have the same issue. Just ordered a 2002 626 2.0 i heard you also have to switch over the cam gear and use msp valve cover and cam sensor. Is this correct?

Yes I believe you have to swap the cam and crank sensors as well as the valve cover. Not sure about the cam gears themselves.

Just did mine this weekend. Cam gears, valve covers, coolant pipes coming off the housing, intake, sandwich plate, oil feed line for turbo, and cooler on the oil filter with lines super easy swap

Just what I needed to hear!!!! Thanks for the boost!

Intake and exhaust cam gears do matter and they must be in the correct position because you're changing from a coil pack to coil on plug setup and The Notches are different

Use white out before pulling the belt and mark the gears and the belt then pull the bolts in the cam gears and Marc which Dodge it is lined up with then pull the belt and gears and transfer everything over 2 the non turbo motor

I eliminated the cooler that's behind the oil filter I only used one of the coolant lines on the front of the motor because it has the elbow for the coolant return from the turbo you can leave the other one if you're going to eliminate the cooler as well because there is an extra fitting on the coolant line that goes to the cooler on the back of the motor

On the cam side there is a banjo bolt with an extra nipple on it for the coolant line I swap that out with a standard banjo bolt into of the washers to eliminate the cooler as well
