MP3 Trade-in Value?

What must I do to get a rough idea of the trade-in value for the MP3? Dealers are giving me the runaround.
They all would like to see the car. But I'm not looking for an official number, just a ballpark. The car's got 15,000km, 5 year 100,000km warranty.

Has anyone been able to pry information out of their dealers?

HEY LISTEN TO THIS....I WENT TO A DLR..THE ONE WHERE I HAD MY MS-P ON ORDER AND I WANTED TO TRADE MY CAR IN...SO I HAVE 20000 MILES ON IT AND A KEY MARK ON THE DRIVER DOOR THAT GOES FROM THE MIRROR TO THE MIDDLE OF THE REAR PASS DOOR...THE ONLY THINGS WRONG WITH MY CAR...EVERYTHIN ELSE IS IMMACULATE...SO HE TAKES IT FOR A DRIVE AND LOOKS OVER THE CAR AND TELLS ME THERE HAD BEEN PRIOR REAR END DAMAGE SINCE THE BUMPER SCREWS WERE MOOVED AND HE FELT A BODY LINE OF PAINT ONTHE ENTIRE REAR SEC OF THE CAR....THEY OFFERED ME 8K.......8 THOUSAND US DOLLARS.....U BELIEVE THAT s***!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO I CALLE D MY LAWYER AND WE CALLED MAZDA USA AND MY DLR LODGED A COMPLAINT AND THEY WANNA INSPECT THE CAR....

A dealer told me that they could probably give me close to what I owe (14K) since this car is still a hot item.

The MP3's trade in value is going to be crap! That is why I decided to keep my MP3 and just deal with its problems. If the rings are blown, I'll get them fixed. I love this car too much to let it go for a low price. I just needed to take a break from it for a while, it was depressing me a lot.

i called my dealer. for my car with 24,000 miles they were going to give me $17,500 for my car. if you trade the car in before the extended warranty do you get that money back. some one told me that would get dropped off the loan if i traded in my car before the warranty kicked in. though im not going to trade my car in. i love her too much.

WOW!!! yours only lost a thousand bux in retail value...i cant even call my dealer and see, itll hurt.

Unless that's Canadian dollars, your dealer is lying to you.

nope, the dealership knows me, and i know everybody at the dealership. i called and asked them how much they would give me if i traded my car in on an RX8. they said 17,500. MP3 sold quick in this area, they could get there money back.

Perhaps they told you this beacause you wanted to buy a much more expensive car? ie, they are willing to make no money or even lose a little knowing they will make it up on the sale. I just can't see anyone buying a used MP3 for $18k+ when the MSP's are coming out for only a couple grand more (see post: MSP's MSRP $19500.) I doubt this price would apply for somebody buying a $20k car.

No, they don't know about the engine. I have 42,000 + mi on my ride.

Unfortunately you can't expect a lot on trade-ins. I would expect to get screwed over pretty bad to trade in my MP3 as well which is one of the reasons I choose not to try to trade it in for the new MSP....for me, the monetary hit would just be too big I think.
