this scar serves as a pretty decent reminder every morning out of the shower to not ride like an asshole.

do you still ride?
also glad to see you are okay im going to be riding a motorcycle this summer and will do my best to stay save!
Like I said earlier, read Proficient Motorcycling. In addition, take the Motorcycle Safety Foundation's Basic RiderCoursehttp://www.msf-usa.org/index_new.cfm?spl=2&action=display&pagename=RiderCourse Info.
How many riders are proficient at emergency counter-steering and effective front brake usage?
I'd say maybe 20%- tops. Did you ever notice how many bikes-particularly cruisers-have rusty front brake discs?
Yea, I almost get hit by some different idiot everyday here. What're you near? This is the prime reason I never got a bike. Driving a car in the Bay Area is dangerous enough with all the stupid people who should not ever own a drivers license. You would not believe the s*** I have seen in my daily 80m commute. There is no way you could ever get me on a bike here.
(iagree)
using both is the best, but front tire skidding is alot worse than rear tire skidding. I use my front brakes just as much as my rear, is just alot of people dont know how to.

Ouch, yea definitely. But at least you don't live in the south bay or inside SF.I live in Fremont and drive to South San Fran every day. So I pretty much get all the Bay Area has to offer for stupidity![]()

Probably very few. I know I have been trying to unlearn a lot of bad habits. I've ridden a bit over 300,000 street miles and bad habits are hard to break. I *still* catch myself not looking all the way through the turn.
My accident wasn't about turning and braking. My accident was about treating the street like a racetrack. Armcos aren't air fences and most mountain roads don't have a safe run off or sand to slow you down. I was a victim of my own stupidity.
all i have to say is this entire incident could have been avoided had you been riding a ZX10R
