Motor Mounts

I need to replace my passenger side mount and rear mount so I figure that I will replace them all with aftermarket ones. I would love to get the AWR ones but for $500 I'd rather not. I found these on ebay, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mazda-Protege-3-pc-Motor-Mount-Kit-99-03-Protege_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZalgoQ3dLVIQ26ituQ3dUCIQ26otnQ3d5Q26poQ3dLVIQ26psQ3d63Q26clkidQ3d6416646461193834176QQ_trksidZp5197Q2em7QQcategoryZ50454QQitemZ180601766808#ht_1102wt_1165, and the guy told me that he has all four for $200. I've read his reviews and they all seem excellent. What do you guys think of them? Also would anyone guide me in changing the passenger side, front and trans mount and what tools I will need, extensions, deep socket, swivel etc.? I've read the how-to on the rear so I pretty much know what needs to be done but I really can't find too much info on the other three. Thanks

I just did a quick search to find out where minervamotorwerkz.com is located. It does not say on their website, which is shady. Even the whois for their domain tries to conceal their location. I ran across a thread on m a z d a s p e e d f o r u m s, they say that it is Medieval and to stay away for what it is worth.

I ordered some. They haven't arrived yet. You can do better than 200 though. I asked him 180 and he agreed. Another member only paid 150 for all 4. See what you can save.

If you are talking about the Minerva let me know how they are when you get them. For $150 for all four, that is a great deal but it makes me wonder how well they will support my engine? Don't want to be driving and have the engine drop out because I bought some cheap motor mounts.

I have the Mediaval Mounts now for 2 years and have no complaints...same ones as in that link...I paid around $150 for my set of 4 Shipped...

I just replaced the front and rear mounts with the front being the medieval one, no complaints here

Front is mad easy to replace as well .... at least in theory. Its just two bolts under the car which you can get at without jacking it up and then the bolt that goes through mount itself. In my case the mount had been shot for a while and the engine settled a bit. So I had to loosen the support that the mount bolts to and the mount bracket on the block to get everything lied up properly, then had to tighten it all back down. Still, much easier than the rear.

I believe that the side and trans mounts are just as straight forward as the front, although I believe an engine support is needed, I think I heard somewhere along the line it is not safe to support from under the engine on the side ones but I could be wrong.

Thanks for the input guys. Sleezer, regarding supporting the engine. I read that for the sides if you put a board on a jack and put it under the oil pan then that will support it enough so that you can change them. I'm not sure how accurate that it is. Anybody else know?

that is what I did, worked great. Dont jack any more than you need to though. (that's what my mom always told me.)

i swapped out the front and both side mounts. Much more vibrations at idle now. Medieval transmission mount is a b****. Its to wide for the bracket. The Transitioning from gear to gear is sooooooooo much better now though.....Although, you knew before I did.

Yea I swapped out the rear and front, it shakes and vibrates like a b**** when the engine is cold, but once shes warmed up its not bad
