What do you think Is the Most Underrated Supercar and/or just car in general?

I thought of NSX. People are always bashing it, but despite its low power output it's a great car, especially in R form. Which again proves it's not about the numbers.

Too bad the factory was about the only one to overrate it, when they priced it.<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

despite all the accliam the EVO gets i still think its the most underrated car out there. i mean with minimal work the thing is a world beater. at only 2.0 liters thats just amazingly impressive

remember the typhoon/syclone??? those things were badass, and practicly no one even knew about them...

trying to find numbers on their times but i can't tell if what i am finding is with or with out mods, but the times i found are all mid 12's

Honda civic....lol

The typhoon/cylcones definately. The old turbo dodges were pretty impressive with a bit of work. Look at that one minivan and the acclaim (silver slug)....both of those were in the 11's IIRC....

what about the protege??? j/k

i think in recent autos, the pontiac GTO is pretty underrated. very plain, very spartan, very auzzie. edmunds said it best; not enough retro styling to win over the purists, too bland to win over the young buyers. it should be character and not looks that one should judge cars (and people) by. below the sheet metal and under the hood it had all the character it needs. but cars need to sell, so after GM "retires" the GTO, they'll bring it back in a few years with a buyer-friendly redesign.

Isuzu Impulse. It just popped into my head really. In 2.0 liter turbo (160hp) hatchback form and that Lotus handeling it was not a bad ride in the late 80's and early 90's. The RS coupe had permanently engaged AWD.

i cant decide, but the celica all-trac is either too underrated or just too unknown. its a helluva car, awd, it has the 3s-gte engine, which is a beast, but i think cuz of its limited numbers its just not popular

I was gonna say NSX...I love that car. Although I have to admit it purpose wasnt to be a "super car" but a sports car. Becuase I though honda designates its sports cars HSC (honda sports concept). Which the next NSX is rumored to be the HSC. But its one of those boarder line cars...its like they wanted a sports car but used exotic materials and of course had an exotic design with a exotic price. I just dont liek how the term "super car" is being throw around. suddenly you have people calling supras, 350zs and EX7 as "super cars." WTF? And besides you have guys buying a 1991 NSX for $25-30K and calling it a "super car" while hes working at a wal-mart.

except no one can drive the Type R NSX....that car was a death trap. No anything...no power steering, no ABS, no airconditioning, no power utilities, no T-tops, no tracktio control....man...even the drift king (tsuchiya) was afraid of the car. His exact quote was, "This car is not for a novice driver." lol and that was only with 280 hp. Imagine a Ferrari in race mode.

I loved that car...designed by Arton Senna (Honda F1 champ). Jesson button and Rubins praised it. Gotten numerous awards and praises.

I think the NSX is more respectable overseas as people here tend to only look at HP and 1/4 mile times. But the car was begining to show its age.

For years Honda NA been begining Honda Japan to make teh car cheaper. But the president and founders were adimit that the car be well designed.

That meant Mid engine RWD (expensive) and to keep weight down they used aluminum (expensive). They could have most definately made it FR and used fiber glass/plastic...but that would be cheap (GM like). I guess its one of those cars where they want it be the best that it can be with no budget, but not too expensive (i.e. Ferrari and Lambo). in other words relfect the F1 world. Looks like the next generation NSX wont be cheap either. I mean the original NSX was amazing when it came out. A car that can do 175+ mph back in the early 90s and 250 hp?

They recently said that Japan's under 280 hp pact/rule helped Japanese manufatuers design better cars. to look at other things then just power. Like making the car faster via suspention and aerodynamics. And making hte car more efficient.

other cars underated would be teh Bughatti EB110....no one ever claims it was a great car but it made alot of power for its day. 5V per cylinder DOHC V12 pumped out 600 some hp and ultimately bankrupt the company. way ahead of its time because some of that technology are just found in today's cars. Another would be the Jaguar XJ220

I'll say the NSX also. People look at the hp rating only and think its a slug. A close friend of mine has one and he ran mid 12s stock. From what I've seen at the track, thats better times than most average Joe's in Ferrari's (360 Modena, 355, and Maranello). With header, exhaust, and flywheel he ran 11.8.

2005 Subaru Legacy GT

Faster than the WRX.

with $1300 (STG II) in mods (UP/DP COBB AP) its faster than a STi.

I have a friend with an All-trac turbo. It's a beast of a car, but it's dog slow because it's heavy... It's got power, but the power-to-weight ratio kills it. It handles great, though! Certianly looks nice, too. He just got it repainted to a candy maroon color.

Buick Grand M'Fn National

anybody follow how much those are worth these days? They had claim to the fasted production car ever produced till the Viper (that's what I heard, so don't flame the messenger)

I've thought of two more underrated cars. Mitsubishi FTO and Lotus Espirit.

i have to agree with most of you guys the NSX is by far one of the most underrated supercars there is. People with enough money to buy them typically by something that doesn't look or perform as good because not many people with that much money could justify paying 90K for a Honda/Acura. IMO if I had 90K i would buy one in a heartbeat they are truely an amazing car and i have driven one so i can vouch for their amazingness!!

I'd go with the NSX. I remember when they came out I fell in love (lust?) with them. Before it's all over, there will be one in the garage next to the 'Speed. :D
