More exhaust questions

To anyone who has taken out the P5 resonator.

Is this resonator straight-through in design, how greatly would it impede air flow/velocity??

Im doing a custom exhaust with a Zigen muffler but I DO NOT want it to be super loud. Ive heard of guys using resonators from 5.0Mustangs and such beacause they quite down the exhaust without causing any backpressure.

I'm wondering if I remove #2 Cat, use stock resonator and my Zigen muffler. How loud it will be. Or would it be better to scrap cat and resonator, go with a larger resonator as stated above?

Want to yeild as much gains as possible with as little noise as possible.

Also what diameter of tubing have people been using, I know there is a lot of debate on this issue , but all opinions are welcome. Although I like to dream chances of me doing forced induction on my P5 are slim, so I dont think Ill be going for 3"

THANKS

I will tell you now DO NOT DO 3" pipe. If you do you will loose all bottom end you have. You only need 2.25" piping once you get to 2.5" on a 2.0L you start to get into turbo piping. You could leave teh resonator on to quiet it down a bit but you ahve to remember your exhaust is only as free flowing as your most restrictive part which besides your cat and header woudl be the resonator. I would say just get 2.25" piping remove the 2nd cat and if its too loud get a resonator put in that way you talor it to your tastes.
