MODZ on my P5

I want to drop and get new wheels and tires for my silver P5
but I still have a lot of questions after shopping on the net and going to a couple of modz stores.

This is what I want to do:

- Eibach Pro Kit (1.4" drop front, 1.2" drop back)
- 17" OZ Superleggera titanium wheels 17x7 (17x8?)
or VOLKS LE37T gunmetal 17x7.5 (30,40,48 offset?)
- Falken FK-451 205+/40 17 or 205+/45 17
- drilled or slotted rotors (possibly larger but that is usually very expensive).

Can I go wider then 205/40's without rolling fenders or playing too much with the camber ?
What's the deal with the wheel offset and how do I make sense of all this (wheel, tires, offset ...) ?

Any suggestions ?

Don't go with 17x8's

You can roll on 215/45's, I think

Make sure the offset of your rim is +48 or higher

get SLOTTED rotors, DEFINITELY not drilled. Drilled is only for racer cars, and will just be worse for a street car.

Uh-oh, dont bring the flames in here with talk like that!!!LOL

Ok I have said it once and I will say it again.

Drilled rotors. Better cooling than slotted but less durability on a RACE CAR

Slotted Good cooling and excellent durability for RACE CARS

Now when I say Race car. that includes fulll blown race cars and cars that are auto-xed and people that ride their brakes.

Now for the clarification on why drilled has gotten a bad rep about cracking. People take stock rotors and drill holes in them and then some take it a step further and chamfer them and they sell these as drilled rotors. These are not drilled rotors and theseWILL crack under high heat. Brembo casts the rotors with a specific hole pattern for each car and then just chamfers the hole to clean the edges and help keep the holes dust free. They have not had a set crack yet. And if they do then they will replace them.

I have talked about my corrado several times on here and trust me it was a screamer. Well I was going to do some brakes and decided that I couldn't afford the big brake conversion and so just replaced the rotors. Well I got drilled and after 1 track session and 2 autocrosses they had more cracks thans a broken window. i thought that they were brembos and so I sent them back to brembo. Brembo was kind enough to still honor the "warranty" and they replaced them with their own drilled rotors. they told me that the cracked rotors were in fact only vented Brembo OEM replacement rotors that somebody drilled after the fact and then sold them as Brembo's X Drilled. They even went as far as sending me one bad rotor back and pointing out several examples of how the fake drilled are different than their model specific drilled. Hole pattern rotor weight and thickness were all different.

One further point of clarification is that most RACE CARS as they are called in the above post use slotted and not drilled.

If you want to know more about brakes just pm me and I can fill you in from my experiences. I am currently saving up for the Willwood 2 piece slotted and drilled rotors for our cars.

Ok last sidenote. If your are looking for a big difference in feel the rotors are not going to give it to you except after continued braking. First lines will affect how the pedal feels and the brake response. then pads will affect the feeling and stopping power and then comes the rotors.

Sorry to vent on all this but I have been through it and back when it comes to brakes.
