Mods, Cops, and the Tow Truck

This isn't about rights or probable cause. This is about making a routine stop as painless as possible. If a cop asks to look under your hood and you have nothing to hide, let him look. Most times it's a quick 5 minute conversation and you're on your way.

Exercising your "rights" only works in your favor if you have something to hide. Your actions are doing nothing more than rasing the cop's suspicions, whether justified or not. So unless you're content with dragging this out in court just to prove your legal rights, just cooperate and be done with it.

Just my 2 cents. :)

Valens tried it with the Goths
Chamberlain tried it with Hitler
Sabah tried it with Saddam

Bullies need an punch in the mouth, not a rimjob

cops suck. there are very few good ones out there, and the truth is most of them are just doing it to bust people's balls and feel good about it. I asked on the other forum and here is a response from Haltech:

If the CALI cop that pulls you over and asked to look under the hood, without presenting to you that he is DOT or ASE certified, you have the right to refuse the request. A cop must possess these certification to be deemed and expert in the field.

Back in 2007, my neighbor had a Evo 9 MR. I was coming back from the cleaners and saw him pulled over by a female sheriff. I pulled up in front of the cruiser and walked up on then. I saw the hood up on the car and asked did he break down and needs assistance? The deputy smarted off to me and said she suspects he is running non carb equipment on the car. I challenged her credentials and he was immediately let go. the most ironic thing about it was, he did indeed have a Carb EO# intake on that car and she had no ******* clue.

Cops in socal profile young kids driving rice. They feel they can get a good scare going on with you. They never **** with a domestic, no matter how loud it is. Their main menu target is the EVOs... secondary to the STi.. They never look at a ****** speed.

One group of cops you need to fear is the CHP. If you get pulled over by a guy wearing a blue jumpsuit, you can almost guarantee, your s*** is going to get towed if its modded or you will walk away with 3 separate citations when everything is done. They are highly trained with both commercial trucks and cars. They also carry around a folder that contains EO#'s for every model, every part on a car thats updated monthly.

Unless you really piss that guy off, more then likely, he wont bust it out on you.

Good info. So a FMIC, BPV and water injection don't require a CARB cert.
