Modded WRX owner considering a MS3

You don't feel the power dip in 1st or 2nd gear...period. The only thing you feel is the utter absence of any torque-steer! If you want to bounce the front tires and have the steering wheel dance in your hands, then just press the DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) off button and enjoy the fun.

Get the Cosmic Blue one. Its the only color option that's unique to the MS3 choices. All the others are available on the regular 3. Plus, its a super-sleeper color that will never drawn unwanted attention to you......unless your right foot seeks that attention! (glare)

Yeah-- I like that appeal..the only thing I don't like is that it feels a little too sleepery, but on the other hand really don't know about the red. Perfect world would be black but in my area they are impossible to find, 07 or 08.

I will be emailing some dealers tomorrow--wish me luck

I used to own a 02 WRX as well and just bought an MS3 last week. I agree that you don't necessarily feel a lack of power in 1st and 2nd, however you will notice that in 3rd the car feels more open and powerful. I haven't even broken it in yet, but man this thing wants to bust loose. I don't think FWD is really an issue for me...it has an LSD and traction control which helps a lot compared to other front drivers. My only issue with this car is the clutch...it's touchy. You have to baby it to make it drive smoothly, which is sometimes annoying if you are carrying passengers and want to give them a smooth ride.

I'm a suby owner too and I agree with your feelings about the interior of the WRX.

This is my main reason for purchasing the Legacy.

The Mazda 3Speed def has a ton of potential. Take a look at some these beast on this forum!

PS... JCS speed rocks!

Too bad no AWD....

Well, look at it this way as well. For you to go through andrewtech auto and get a set of PPG's it is going to run you about 5K. Thats a lot of money, but you WRX would be bad ass. Just at stage II and a tranny that can with hold any amount of power. You could launch hard and power shift through all the gears.

A MS3 is going to run you about 24K. Now that is a big difference in price. I am not trying to talk you out of a MS3, but just think before you purchase

Nothing beats that new car high. I have a few Suby buddies and they always want to talk more about my car than their own, which I think is wierd cause they have modded '07 STi's. From a dig, I'm toast, but on the highway, its alot of fun to keep up with the big boys for thousands less.

all you need is to drop an sti trans in your wrx and your good. Youll never surpass 350whp on the ms3 because we have no fuel upgrades and our rods suck!

our rods suck? a guy on here made close to 400whp with meth injection on a speed3...this car is a BEAST.... he did this on stock internals....(yippy)

Drove my friends 03 wrx just stock felt very weak on my butt dyno the 99 sh prelude i drove had a little more umph it seemed . Well anyway i took him for a ride around the block you should have seen the look on his face . I'll give him it is an old wrx and he probably needs a good tune. I drove my old neighbors Saab which apparently is actually a wrx had a cobb access port an tune pulled much much harder .

UPDATE: Took the pluge-- I now own a TR Mazdaspeed3 sport. I really wanted the GT, but I found a stock preowned one that was an amazing deal.

Driving impressions so far: This car is so much fun to drive and SIGNIFICANTLY faster than my stage 2 WRX. Its amazing how much quicker this car feels stock, and in almost every aspect is better than my WRX. I am not regretful at all, and can't wait to get some mods on this thing..

congrats!!!

Thats pretty sad that it's that much faster than your Stage2 Rex. I thought my MS3 accelerated faster than my Mustang at one point after not driving the thing for a while. I had a rude awakening after getting behind the wheel of that car though. The MS3 seems almost hyper active when you first get it. Congrats and enjoy!

The difference is that while yours felt faster than your Stang, even though it wasn't, the MS3 really is faster than a stage 2 WRX. I've out accelerated a full bolt on tuned 18g WRX (on a track of course (wink)).

And to the thread starter, congrats on your purchase. You even picked out the correct color. :)

Like I said, sad, lol I remember when WRX's were considered fast when they first came out.

The 2006 and 2007 wrx's are way better than the previous years. I drove a 2003 for a bit (a friends) then I bought a 2006 which felt completely different. They are great cars but the tires suck and the trannys aren't anything special.
