MI: MS3 sightings!

Then I saw two on Sunday a Silver with full tint, blacked out badges and rims with a CAI, SSw/Bushings and a delrin 88 MM and then a White one with an SRI and SSw/Bushings and a TRZ dogbone MM and no side moldings going way fast up the on ramp to 96 E and then blasting down the freeway at a very high rate of speed.... Oh wait, that was me and Matt.

well that was a very accurate description lol

8/22 Talked with a guy cruising in a silver MS3 with tint on the every window but the front's. He seemed pretty cool and was messin with a Mustang. It was fun to watch. I told him about the forum, but he wasn't on here yet I guess.

Yesterday spotted two MS3's at On The Border in Novi. One was a true red GT with tint all the way around. Another was a black GT that parked next to me, with a roof rack and some aftermarket wheels. Both cars looked really sharp.

Anyone know these guys?! We need some Mazdas247.com business cards to leave on people's doors!
Hey, I was the black one at On The Border! I saw yours there so I parked next to it. My girlfriend liked your car, she said it looks great in white. :)

Been talking a little with mazdaspeedster3 about Doc's tonight and hoped I could make it, but got too much going on this weekend. Now that I found this regional section I'll keep up with what you guys are up to and try to join another time.

On Wednesday some friends of mine and I are heading to Milan for test and tune, and the next autocross in the area is I believe at the Cadillac plant on Sept 7. Definitely will be fun events that we could do. I've seen one other MS3 at autox, also black with hyperblack Rota Torques...

Catch up with you guys later!

Hey Brian! Nice to meet ya lol.

Where did you sit at On The Border? Sorta hard to recognize ms3 owners in person. I'm going to have to order a Mazdaspeed hat or something to wear. I liked the little cone you had in the trunk.

I was kinda in the center of the restaurant behind the hostess booth. I was with my gf and my folks.

The cone is my tribute to cone killing autox :D Unfortunately I've only been to one in the MS3 - but I will be at the event this Sunday at the Cadillac plant!

Last night when leaving WSU, I saw a black MS3 with tint, pretty much blacked out. It was a GT, since I saw the LED tails, but was heading west on Warren, so I didn't get much more detail than that. Wheels weren't stock either (I think). Anyone?

I didn't see you then. I only saw a couple by themselves.

I'd love to go to an autox event or track event one day. I'm considering going out to Milan to get some practice doing straight line runs with the car.

Weekend is shot as ill be in canada. I haven't dragged since my 15 sec 03 grand am! I know how to stage but I don't know how to launch safely in a manual.

Launching our cars correctly is a trick. Turning your DSC and Traction control off is a must of course. I have found that 3000 - 3500 RPM and letting it rip and then growing through the throttle in second and third as first is invisible after launch. I have Matts Dash Hawk so I am going to try and get some good logs on RPM, HP and Boost levels and set up the shift light to give me maximum and see what it comes up with...

Spotted a Cosmic Blue Speed3 with custom rims and half the mazdaspeed emblem was red. Blushingly I was talking with the police officer who pulled me over this morning when he went buy. Said he radarred me doing 37 in a 25 mph school zone by my sons Day care and where I turned out of the sub onto the street he was on wasnt even 500 feet from where he pulled me over. Then, he tried to show me the radar gun with no time stamp on the reading...

I hadnt even hit the speed limit when he was rolling down someones drive way with his lights on. When he asked why he pulled me over I was like, Clueless! that is when he said I was doing 37, I said NO WAY, IMPOSSIBLE. So I asked him how he clocked that, he said Laser, I said no way again and that I would like to see that. He took me back to show me but when I asked for time stamps and then saw the 500 feet he got a little chalked up with a lot of spit in his mouth. I dont know what he thought. It was really strange...

So I tried playin around today on the street. Figured i'd ask.

Do you hold the rpms then drop the clutch? Or do you ease into it?

Saw a bright blue Mazda3 across the street from the Royal Oak Brewery last night about 9pm. Had some really sharp rims that might have been 18-19" with Azenis. Anyone?

For launching at an autocross I usually just blip the throttle a few times and let the clutch out quick and smooth at probably 2500-3000 rpm. You have all the time you need though, because the light turns green, you go when you're ready, then you cross the starting light a few feet later. For a drag race with the reaction being so important, people typically hold the revs constant and drop the clutch at the yellow light. What rpm to use is all about personal preference, how fast you let out the clutch vs. feed throttle, and how much you despise your clutch/half shafts that day :)

Oh yea, he gave me the ticket and as he was walking away told me to fight and the sooner I fought it the better. I was like, WHAT? And he just said have a nice day sir. It was one of the strangest experiences I have ever had. He let me out of the car to see the laser gun but woudlnt show me the time stamp on it. We were having a slightly heated conversation on the side of the road debating the distance of the street and my ability to have reached that speed without RAPID ecceleration. It is a long story, took almost 30 minutes for him to give me the ticket.

Oh Mike, let that clutch fly your first time and then go from there. You can slow the release down or feather the clutch with more gas (more wear in my opinion on the clutch).
