Spicy Orange MSP #1287
I installed the MBC and FPR today...The FPR was cake...The MBC was a total b****.
After searching for an hour for pics of the install, I finally found the one I needed. I ended up just taking the entire elbow off the wastegate, removing the one-time use clip, and using a regular hose clamp to replace it. I get it installed and go to test it...I pull through second gear, and it peaks at like
8 PSI...Wierd...I pull over and adjust the mbc. Test again, this time pulling into third gear...15psi!!! Holy crap!! I forgot Joe said it's better to test in third gear, so the motor wasn't under full load:) I didnt hit the fuel cut, so everything was okay. Finally got it adjusted, it's at about 9psi, peaking at 11 with no fuel cut. Did the FPR help the fuel cut issue?? I thought that's what the fuel cut defenser was for. I drove it for a while and had no issues, so everything is good for now...What a difference that 4 psi makes!! I scratched second gear so bad it scared me!! Remember, I used to drive a Honda:) Now, if only I could get my new rear Spool springs, I'd be a happy man....

Cool s*** man. I should have asked you for a ride while I was up there. I still haven't been in a MSP yet.

I never really got the hesitation as bad as some of the stories I heard, but from the driving I did today, it has disappeared. I work tomorrow though, so I'll put about another 100 miles or so on it...That'll be a good test.

Yup, I just recently added the MBC to my car's collection of JoeP accessories. I'm hitting .8 bar peak (~11psi) and around .7 bar (~10psi) steady. It makes a HUGE difference in the car. There is still *some* hesitation after dogging the car for a good while as I did tonight while testing the setup out.

I did manage to finally hit this fuel cut everyone talks about. Jesus, it scared the s*** out of me... Werid thing is that I was at 5-6k rpm so I didn't think it'd do that but sure enough, I thought I had blown the engine...

Car's fine though. ;)

I still havent installed my boost gauge yet. Then i will add the FPR and then the MBC. I'm almost due for my second servicing so I may as well wait till thats done. I can't wait to feel the boost baby!

I was in a friends MSP which he has modded. Full custom exhaust, custom cai, and turbonetics (i think) MBC. That thing has some serious power scared the crap outta me. LOL

He is also working on intercooler. Actually IC already in the car just not hooked up, still running off of stock IC.

Ya gotta get the FCD from Joe P., My peak boost is about 11psi, 12psi when it's the temp drops and I have never once hit fuel cut. I can't imagine the sudden jerks of the cut are all that great for the car so I would highly recomend this to anyone.

Does anyone know the part number of the colder plugs that everyone is using? Also, anyone have a pic of the PCV valve..

NGK copper plugs BKR7E 6097.
As for the PCV: ask your dealership for the 323 GTX`s....it fits just fine.:p

apexi.. next time your in sac ill take u for a ride in a auto p5 with 18s.. and u can experience the true meaning of the word slow.

What car is that from? The reason I ask is because I'll bet if I call the parts department at my Mazda dealer there not gonna have a clue what that is without knowing which car it's from.

Hey guys sorry I missed this but why is everyone replacing the PCV valves? I rarely visit this forum and search did'nt help me at all. P.S. I am not some gay ass kid with no knowledge of any thing automotive I am just not sure why you change the PCV valve. Not trying to get flamed.

I am going off memory here, co I could be wrong. The PCV valve on the MSP doesnt like to handle much boost, so they are upgrading to hte PCV valve on the 323 GTX which came from the factory with more boost, and a higher tolerence.

BINGO!!!(stupid) What he said.

D.P. , the vehicle I mentioned is a little hatchback rocket made by mazda called: 323 GTX. Its an AWD turbo, and also the original platform for the Protege'. Any mazda dealership should have no problems w/ getting the part. I hope this helps. :p

What should I expect to pay for these plugs?? Can I get them at the local auto parts store, or is online easier/cheaper?
As far as the PCV...sorry to sound like a noob, but is that the same as the recirculator valve??I've never heard anyone mention a PCV on here before....

I did notice a little hesitation in the MSP today, but not stumbling off the line, just kinda felt like turbo lag...I was expecting the car to throw me back in my seat, so I kinda leaned forward to balance it out. Kinda made me feel dumb when the car didn't go anywhere:) I gotta get thet FCD next, and then I guess a down pipe...

I've done the same thing a few times now and then look around for any witnesses to run over. :D

(rofl)
Yeah, I don't know if it's a noticeable movement, but I knew I did it:)
