Mazdaspeed's perimeter alarm

the brochure specifically states, "anti-theft perimter alarm system"

If it aint' there......make them put it there, or take money off of car.

ding ding ding!
I didnt check the black msp i sat in but the orange one in MA i sat in today did not have the perimeter alarm either.

the salesman said the perimeter alarm was to warn you if you were backing up and going to hit something it would beep

bottom line, window sticker says perimeter alarm, im paying for one in the 20,500 so the car should come with one, and if it doesnt, all the better, the dealer can pay for me to have a 3rd party alarm installed
:)

msp owners in the US sound off, do you have a perimeter alarm? and can someone post a pic of the keychain alarm controller thingy? maybe its diff for perimeter alarm cars and non perimeter alarm cars and it would be an easy way of determinign which you got...........

Limted edition found his adjustment knob on his msp after several tries...there is a thread about it

Personally I think your salesman has his head up his butt like a lot of them do....insted of telling people "I don't know but I will find out for you" and doing so....they make stuff up so you THINK they know what they are talking about.....

a perimeter alarm is NOT a back up alarm.....its what it says...an alarm for the entire PERIMETER of the car, its an alarm that does NOT require a door, hood or hatch to be opened for it to go off...but rather just a bump of the car....someone bushing a window...that sort of thing its a THEFT deterent.

AND its OBVIOUS that the MSP DOES have this type or alarm...or at least SOME people are getting one as is evident by THIS THREAD as Limited Edition wanted to know how to decrease the sensitivity of it....and did so.....and we found out that his PERIMETER alarm is just like the one that mazda put in my 2002 P-5, as the box is the same...and it adjusts the same....

THIS is what leads me to believe that your salesman is blowing smoke up your butt.....and has HIS head up his own.

so do all p5's have a perimeter alarm. cause i can start kicking my car and an alarm wont go off...... all that i've seen is the regular keyless entry. the only time mines goes off is the warning button on the keyless entry remote.... other then that not a whistle...

but there were some people who said even after having aftermarkets installed there was no evidence of a factory one having ever been there. so could someone describe their alarm controller keychain thing? just a lock unlock and panic button? and with sensitivity turned all the way down how do you set the alarm off? and is the perimeter alarm just the flashing lights and beeping horn or is it a real alarm noise?

also, how do you arm the alarm?

thx

NO. not all P-5's have/had them...it was/is an OPTION.

if you THINK you have a factory alarm....look between your steering wheel and your guage cluster....is there a little red led sticking up? one that flashes when you set the locks with your keyless entry fob? if there is...you HAVE a factory alarm....if there is NOT one there...you do NOT have a factory alarm.

IF I had/have a 2003 (specifically the MSP that supposedly comes standard with a perimeter alarm) and it didn't work properly....BEFORE I went and had an aftermarket alarm installed I would be back at the dealer in a heart beat....after all...you PAID for it....

as for the alarm itself....the 2002's ALARM was only the flashing lights and the horn....no special siren was installed...and it used the SAME remote as the cars without the alarm....i have two 2002 P-5's...one WITH an alarm...and one without....the keyless entry fob is the same.....but the car WITH the alarm...when you lock your doors like normal...it automatically arms the alarm....

as for turning the sensitivity down all the way....well if you do that....it just makes it HARDER to set the alarm off....and you may be able to turn it down so far that you in effect disarm that partion of the alarm....by making it so NONE sensitive that it won't go off. but opening a door or the hood or the hatch without disarming the alarm will still set it off.
