ok so a buddy of mine was tryin to hook up his blitz power meter in his mazda speed and accidently tapped into the knock sensor wire.. now the car wont start. When you unhook the battery and let it sit then try to turn it over you can hear the starter click but it wont go all the way and start..
any ideas?
is there a fuel cutoff somewhere he needs to reset?
thanks..
John

Is the starter motor cranking or is it just clicking? If it's just clicking your battery's nearly dead and you need a jump start.

not a click. he has power to everything
it will click once then thats it.. then u have to pull the negative off an let it sit again before it will do anything

Definitely sounds like an alarm issue then....remember the stock alarm is screwy. There's a reset button under the dash on the driver's side...have you tried that?

PCM = powertrain control module

It's the proper term for an ECU.

He may be right...I remember when installing my a/f gauge I tried starting the car without the PCM connected and nothing happened except clicking (duh me)

Make sure you bolted your computer back down. I put my A/F guage in and didn't put all the nuts back on the cover grounding the computer and it wouldn't start. Make sure you've got it grounded good if this is what you took out. Other then that I have no idea, sorry, hope you get it fixed.

i didnt know he posted that when i posted this.. but yeah im trying to help him out -=)

Thanks TheJohnny I am sure that this was the problem. I only had a couple bolts on it and not all of them. Now it started up just fine but has the check engine light and I will have to go get that cleared. Also SpaceMonkey(Kelvin) you can use the Power Meter even without the SBC-iD although I have both. Take it easy
