anytime you have a water cooled cooler its way better then finned, water disapates heat better then aluminum fins. to each thier own, if you get a radiator style cooler you need a pusher or puller fan or its worthless, i like the radiator style because you get to add more oil thus cooling it even more and more oil capacity and i love when the fans kick on. i have a tranny cooler on mine, thats the new style all new of its own. its above my FMIC. peace. i am adding a dual oil filter and remote kit for mine, more capacity better cooling cheaper and yet, easier to change oil. peace- trav

damn!!! i just saw this now and that sheit looks solid!! questions are how much did it cost for the total kit...lines, co0Ler, fittings, clamps, etc, also, what about the fans, whered you get all these stuff from and how much did they cost? thanks man

okay THE MAN, heres a quesion for you....if i am going to get a filter relocation kit, would i put this oil co0Ler by the stock oil filter location and just use the same steps, or would i put the oil co0Ler by the new location of the oil filter...you are the most knowledgable guy i know on this site, just wondering if you or anyone else would know

The point of the oil relocation kit is to 1) place the kit in a more accessible spot 2) Increase Oil capacity.

You could not / should not use the MSP Oil Cooler in combination with the the adaptor that the kit requires you to use. I think there would some fitment issues and with the way the install in described...the MSP oil cooler needs to be in the "stock" place for the radiator lines to be correctly connected.

I would figure a seperate oil sooler would be better than this. As this way, you transfer heat from the oil to your coolant, then the coolant transfers the heat via the radiator to the air.

It's my opinion it would be better to have a seperate cooler for the oil, where the oil directly transfers its heat to the air through the cooler. Also as stated before, this will allow you to put in a little more oil in the car, thus spreading the heat.

I'm not worried. If the Miatas running large amounts of boost on daily run cars run a similar style oil cooler, it should work just fine on the Protege.

A seperate air-oil cooler isn't any better or worse.
