I just finished installing the Mazdaspeed oil cooler, and let me tell you the instructions that Edwin (TheMan) put out were phucking TOP NOTCH!! The only part of the instructions I didn't follow was taking the starter off. **** that!! I was however able to accomplish the install without taking the starter out. The oil cooler install part was easy. It was the dropping a screw after I finished, and not finding it for 2 hours part that pissed me off! Once I found that, I was able to put everything back together and finish up. I will start up the engine in the morning, and go thru the proper coolant refill procedures.

lmfao about the screw, i lost one in the engine bay at night when i took off my valve cover to paint it...had to buy some generic one from home depot to replace it but found the original like one week later 1/4 mile from my apartment while walking my dog...

in ANY case, how does it feel?

one last thing, are you really in DFW? because when i look up members it says youre only 88miles from me.

one thing i will do is raid a junkyard with a crashed newer protege and take lots of nuts and bolts (i've got 2 boxes of various bolts, nuts, etc from my crx's over the years)

Did it come will steal braided lines?? I had one on my Honda back in the day and the sh*t kept blowing lines. Everyother day. Oil all over the place!

thats a big difference from 188 miles according to randmcnally.com going the shortest distance...and although i go a little out of my way going south before i go east, once i go east its pretty much straight line...no way is it only 93 miles..

Damn, the replies came quck on this one... No, this is the same oil cooler that comes stock on the MSP's.

Yeah, Razor, I am in Arlington.

hmmm that still says 179 miles for me...odd...i dunno what kind of damn way this forum judges miles.

We have an oil cooler stock? WTF. I didn't even know that.

Yep, this oil cooler is just like the ones used on the Miatas stock. It comes stock on the MSP's.

All is good. No leaks! I just went for a test drive (without boost of course), and all seems well. The PDA Dyno came in handy again when I was putting coolant in. When I started to run the engine at 2500 RPM, the temps climed too quickly which ment that the coolant I put in had been sucked where it was supposed to go, and now I needed to add more coolant. A good clue that you don't have enough coolant in your car is if the upper radiator hose is not hot.

starter? :wtf:

what kind of crack are you smoking? it's not in the instructions :wtf:

3. Remove the intake manifold support bracket located between the oil filter area and the starter by removing the four 14mm bolts

yeah, it's in plain english FOOL

damn i thought it was one of those oil coolers that you ziptie to the radiator... damn i had my hopes up that mazdaspeed released one of those. so uhh i don't need an oilcooler on my msp? cuz i was planning to get one of those radiator type ones.
