Mazdaspeed - how long will Mazdaspeed3 be offered?

I want the rx8 with the speed 3 motor. I know rx models are about rotary but rear drive with the looks and handling of the rx8 would be sweet.

A Mazda salesman, who I trust, told me 2008 is the last year for the current Speed 3. A 2 year run is what Mazda plans for each Mazdaspeed car.

I believe that there will not be anymore ms3 made after this last batch gets shipped over. I just ordered a 2008.5 and the dealer said that i got there last spot to order the car. So i am guessing since i am getting my car in june-july that there will be no more cars made and the rest of sales is what is going to be left over and i don"t think anyone knows what is going to be the next mazdaspeed model they tell the dealer usually just before the public finds out. Please correct me if i am wrong or if anyone knows otherwise.

dealers usually don't know s*** about this... and even if they did, they wouldn't tell anyone. (they just want to sell the cars NOW not give anyone a reason to wait a year.) Mazda reps are usually a good source for this type of information... but getting in touch with one can sometimes prove challenging.

Since they're coming out with a new version in 2010 I doubt a MS model will be available any sooner than 2011... hopefully I'm wrong.

Someone mentioned the Miata and 6 as examples of why this car would follow the same path. The difference is... those cars didn't sell while the MS3 is a huge hit. So Mazda would be wise to continue the momentum and make it a mainstay in their lineup (like the WRX) as opposed to just some speciality car they roll out the last couple of years of a model's lifespan.

Word!
How do you discontinue a car and driver 10 best with only 2 years of sales that have been strong.
Sucks too, I would be considering one when my truck's lease it up in 09.
