can't say i've ever done any type of conversion, so i don't understand every little aspect that needs to included when considering the possiblility, so excuse me if i missed something that completely makes this impossible.

in terms of height/width/wheelbase, the wrx and the msp are pretty simiar (give or take 1.5-2 inches in each category), and they both utilize smaller-type engines.

anyone wanna shed some light?

what drivetrain would you get this from, can't be a subaru. They are longitudinal and we are transverse. You would have to get a Lancer Evolution of someshit. Or go 323 GTX with a B6T motor. hehe. Or get the one from the Familia in Japan and do all the custom s*** needed. Our chasis are different. You need to make custom mounts and all kinds of s***.

Custom floor pan etc... It would be so much easier to just say, "NO" and "Buy a WRX" lolz.

1st a lot of dough, 2nd you would be the 1st I know about to do this. The sport20, or famalia I think in Japan are AWD and have the FSZE motor, 170hp at the crank. Dont really know much about them on the spec side. But I dont even think anyone has even tried this. I would say go for it, corksport would be the 1st place i would go for info, then probably here as well

i know that a guy here named justin was in the process of converting his p5 to a jdm p5 with awd, but never went through with it completely i think

******* nutz.....
i wish we got a DVD navigation option......damn US.

i do not know how to do this but i do know that i will be working alot on a gsx and will be taking notes on how the awd system is setup :-)

why 2 identical threads???

because dell computer's work perfectly.

other one was closed - i posted in the top of the thread that it could be closed and people kept talking. it's cool though. no harm no foul.

so xelderex - assuming you read this - did you try the sport 20 conversion, or some other platform?

PM me if ya want. by no means would this be a 'in the next few months' project - many years away ...

sure i could have. i could have not asked the question at all in the first place, but seeing how in time time i've been on the boards, i didn't remember anything about it, i just posted the question, assuming the thoughtful mazda community would keep the potential flames away.

thanks for the link btw.

I know that this is 7 years later, but warrier04 did you find out anything more about the AWD for the Protege?
