mazdaspeed 6 performance comparison (1/4 mile times)

right now I'm in the market to buy a car and I really like the mazdaspeed 6, my question is what are the stock 1/4 mile times for a 6speed mt s60r and also what will be the max hp and the fastest 1/4 mile time I can get with the basic performance mods ( intake, exhaust,DP and ecu). I will like a car that will run low 13's to high 12's.

I currently own a 2001 saab 9-3 convertible that I will be trading in.

The other cars I'm looking at are a subaru legacy GT and a volvo S60R.

your annswers will be apreciated.

You should have no trouble hitting those targets (low 13s, high 12s). I noticed you're looking at the S60R. Have you looked into maintenance costs for a Volvo? It's a bit on the high side. At least with the MS6, it's pretty traditional in terms of maint.

I know that with the volvothe maintainance will be a little higher but the insurance will be cheaper because its one of the safest cars on the market so the extra money for maintainance I will save it on insurance.

I like all three cars but cant decide.

The MS6 comes standard with ABS/TCS/DCS, side airbags, side curtain airbags, and I believe it's got a pretty safe rating.

With the Volvo, you've gotta pay out the ass to 'calibrate' and maintenance you have done.

I can't talk about 1/4 mile times since I don't have an MS6 but I will say that the MS6 is far more appealing to me conpared to the S60R and Legacy GT.

Its sportier than both of them, and while not as luxurious as the S60R, an MS6 can be had for much much less cash than both. It would be my pick.

Stock MS6 is anywhere from a 13.7 - 14.0 quarter mile time, depending on driver.

12's are def doable with a full exhaust, some sort of a tune, and good driving.

I don't know much about the maintenance costs for the MS6 as most of us are all still relatively new, low mileage. But parts can be expensive if they are MS6 specific, and do not apply to a standard 6 (injectors, brakes, maybe axles). Plus, with the MS6 being a limited production run, there is a chance that spare parts 5-10 years from now could be quite scarce. But, this car is absolutely amazing, and you'll love it.

Since this car shares so many parts with the CX-7 I don't think that the parts issue will be a problem. But in my opinion the Mazdaspeed6 is the best kept secret out there. I have run with the Volvo on the freeway and it was dead even. My car pulled on it first and then in the higher speeds the Volvo started catching up. But the Volvo cost a ton more and maintenance is really stupid high on those. But the best way to compare is to drive both cars back to back. The Mazdaspeed6 will more than likely get the nod though.....
