so i haven't seen anything or anyone talk about the intake manifold for out ms3's...i know that when i use to own my hondas and acuras if i turbo'd it, it was a good idea to upgrade the IM also... is upgrading our IM for our MS3 not a good idea thats why i haven't seen any aftermarket for it yet??

There are some aftermarket options out there.....I'm not sure that the gains are worth all of the work it takes to swap the manifolds tho. It is a PITA.

AFAIK, the current option is a port and polish from MAP.

There's some talk on MSF about developing one. The one that looks most promising was developed by site member.

I don't think we are allowed to cross post to threads on other forums. OP can go over there and search or maybe you can get his email addy and send him the link that way.

Personally, I think that our intake manifold can handle more flow than most of us can use even with extensive mods unless we are going to go full-bore big turbo build. This is a torque engine with huge power and flow capabilities at low rpm. We don't have the high rpm peaky flow issues that stock Honda engines have. Changes on their platform do frequently need a much different manifold. Further, this is a direct injection engine. The fuel never enters the manifold, only air. So manifold design is much different. Our fuel gets shot by the injector straight into the combustion chamber.

The thing I'm most interested in isn't the possibility of increased flow. It's improved balance between runners. The stock mani has almost a 25% difference between the highest and lowest flowing runners. SDs prototype is under 3% difference. I think that'll be worth the swap, even if you aren't maxing the stocker. Plus, it'll be easier to add direct-port meth on the aftermarket mani.

Do you have the source for that flow info?

Testing data from MAP. SilverDemon on MSF also had his stock, ported and custom IMs flowed. The results are in the thread I linked above.

@HmG_ms3, I agree with MSMS3. From what I've gathered, the stock mani is probably fine at least until you're ready for a turbo upgrade.
