Mazda5: Prices paid and related questions

Dealer responded pretty quick to email. It is a manual. :(

Any knowledge on s-pricing?
I bought a new '10 Mazda5 Sport, automatic for $18,500 out the door using the S plan but I haggled the dealer way down on price (less than $17,000 before taxes etc.).

JLove is that $17 with or without the CD changer or Popular package, and destination changers? Just trying to compare against what offers I have on the table.

I just picked up a 2010 GT for $21800 OTD. It wasn't what we had in mind when we went car shopping, but after the test drive my wife was in love. The priced seemed like a great deal too.

anyone bought a 2010 mazda5 in the boston area lately?

i don't think i got a screaming deal, but here's what i got:

2010 mazda5 sport MT, with a box-hitch receiver (my request): 18,750 before tax and title

not outstanding, but they gave me 10,600 on trade for my 2006 mazda3, which according to edmunds.com, was worth 10,200 on trade. so if they had given me the exact edmunds trade-in value, it would be been like getting the mazda5 for 18,350.

also, i got 0% financing on the $8150 price difference after trade-in.

How can I get an S-plan deal? I will know in another week if I have a new job which will require me to buy a car and I will buy a 5. Only thing I'm debating is getting a new 2010 Touring or an '08-'09 used Touring.

You don't need an S-Plan PIN to get S-Plan pricing, but it does serve as a good conversation starter. I got a pretty good deal on a Sport Auto with Popular last weekend - under $18k+doc, reg and sales tax. Well under Edmund's TMV pricing.

I started by emailing many of the dealers within 150 miles told them I have an S-Plan PIN, and what I wanted - Sport, with Auto, no Popular / CD changer, no color preference. What have you got? Some didn't want to play, and didn't reply, some quoted prices that were clearly not S-Plan pricing and were told so, some came back with reasonable quotes. Some will need a nudge to include a a break down, don't assume all are including destination, ask them what they charge for doc fee, etc.
All in all this took me a week of emailing - I never visited one dealer in this time. When I had a price I liked, I walked in with a check, they countered with a slightly better loan, and an hour later all the paperwork was done.

In hind sight I think I could have saved a few hundred more, waiting till closer to the end of the month, beating them a little more, but I was pretty much down to one dealer and I didn't want to risk losing the deal - I felt I'd done pretty well getting it to under $18k. And this was my first time buying a new car from a dealership.

To get S-Plan you need a connection mine is through my employer, but it doesn't mean the dealer won't try taking you for a ride.

Hmm...yeah, I have x-plan for Ford through work but it no longer includes Mazda.

2010 Grand Touring purchasing in Oct/Nov
I'm currently a Mazda3 driver and we are adding a Mazda5 to our driveway.

Location: Seattle
The best offer I have received is $20,240 after discounts and incentives, but before 8.5% sales tax and licensing. $23,990 is the sticker price.
Does this seem like a good deal?

Edit:
Bought a 2008 GT w/ 17500 miles for $17,000 + tax and licensing.

Hello all, this is my first post. I thought I can add my own 2 cents.

2008 Mazda5 Sport (no packages, i think)
Automatic Transmission
Swapped blown engine with a 2006 Mazda3 Engine
Replaced blown radiator, radiator support, a/c condenser, and fan assembly unit (I am still looking for a front bumper (black))
Price Paid: $8,000 (auction)
Replacement Parts:
Engine: $1,500
All Else: $600
Mechanical Support: $600 (and a couple six packs)
DMV Fees: $1,167 (that is such a ripoff!)
Overall: $11,867

For being nearly new, I think it was a decent price to pay. I love the handling on the ride. Too bad it is not a peppier v6 engine. My next choice would be a v6 m/t (if they exist).

That is all!

Just bought 4 days ago:

2010 Mazda 5 Sport manual
Color: Liquid Silver
Options: Fog Lights, rear bumper guard.
Dealer: Romero Mazda - Ontario, CA
MSRP with destination: $19,210
Base internet price with destination: $15,286 + $350 for options = $15,636 + TTL.

We were looking for used, but the price was so good we bought new. I did the Consumer Reports new car report and this price was 2500 less than their bottom line price. They are really trying to move the 2010 Sport manuals!!! Romero was great to deal with, and internet quotes are the way to go. Will buy all future cars via internet, for sure.

Love the 5 speed so far. Got the 2 kids' car seats in there with lots and lots of extra room. There is much more space in the back seat with the car seats in than our other car (Subaru Outback). I know it's safe, economical, and sportier than it looks. Very pleased so far, which is good. The wife wants to keep driving the Outback.

Yes, it has the Toyo tires and the suspension will likely need attention before the warranty is out. I can live with that, for sure.

I already have all the TSBs from this site, and a digital shop manual linked in the forums. I plan to get all the known issues addressed in the first 12,000 miles.

Glad to find such a great forum for the versatile "Cinco". Will try to contribute as much as I can.
