Mazda Telling Dealers not to Install New Mazdaspeed CAI?

Hi all. I'm going to be taking delivery on a 2008 black mica sport model tomorrow (sweet!). I had planned on having the dealer install the ms cai right off the bat, but they called me today and told me Mazda told them not to install it because some people were still getting check engine lights with the new system. Has anyone heard of this happening anywhere else? If it helps, my dealer is Don Miller Mazda in Madison, WI.

I had a MS3 CAI installed by my dealer just 3 weeks ago and I have not got a CEL yet...

im not sure if its any dealer or just mine, when i talked to them about it. they said any cai is fine man. so if i were you just buy whatever an slap it on. make sure u talk to them about it first....

Where are you guys all located? I may just go to another dealer.

Edit: I'm dumb. I can just look at your profiles.

the mazdaspeed intakes are off hold and stop sale because they redesigned it... whoever orders it will get the new one... part number was also changed

i thought the part numbers had NOT changed

So even the newly released mazdaspeed CAI's are throwing cel's??

If you have the time I would just install any brand of CAI yourself. Save yourself 200 bucks. Install takes under an hour for your 1st time. I can change mine out in 15 minutes.

Dude...enough with this whole MSCAI cel s***.

Check your dealers intelligence...meaning, have them verify this information, ask where they got it from, when it was dated, originated. SOMETHING other than pure horseshit hearsay from the technicians..

I wish we had a direct line to MAZDASPEED engineers..

I'm guessing your dealership wasn't aware that the new MS CAI is available, and is operating under old info. Most dealerships aren't all that up to date on things like that. My guess is one of the service techs saw the work order & refused it out of habit.

I would try again & speak directly to a service advisor- specifically ask if they are aware of the new CAI being released, etc., and if the order they are referring to applies to that new part. That way, there's no ambiguity. If your dealership checks & says the NEW CAI isn't good to go, then we have a conundrum on our hands.

I was planning to go visit my dealer today & see if they happen to have one in stock that I can walk away with. (I'll DIY it... if I can change a head gasket, I can damn sure install a CAI)

I'll chime in here if/when I know something from my dealer. (Ferman Mazda, Tampa)

ive had my 1gen MSCAI since last november and havent gotten a CEL or had any issues with it

Feeling under the weather by the time I left work, but I just called my local dealer & they said they can absolutely get the part within 2 days, and offered to install it, too. I mentioned to the parts rep that there was some confusion as to whether Mazda had put a stop to new CAI installs, and he said he was not aware of any. Declined install, and they charge list ($335) for the parts.

I keep hearing $335 when my dealership was still charging $399 MSRP. Either way, I got it for much less than that so i'm not worried about it.

$335?! My dealer is charging $400 w/o install =\. Where is the chest place to get it for the cheapest price?

i went to the parts counter at my local mazdaspeed auth. dealer and asked about the cai recently. i got the same sort of force-of-habit answer that they weren't available. but since i had already read up on here about how they were back i decided to keep pushing the guy into finding out. couple minutes later he retracted what he said and told me that he could have one ready for me in a few business days after i ordered it. haven't yet but im keeping it in mind

If I remember correctly, the Mazdaspeed Accessories section of Mazda's web site listed this part at $399 just a week or two back. Says $335 now. But that could just be the heroin talking...
