Mazda taking initiative?!

:
2003.5 MSP Blue
I took my 2003.5 MSP in today to get reflashed, the alarm desensitized, the clunk and the crunch fixed. They said the ECU was already flashed with the latest version software. The car was bought new in 10/03. This is the first time its been back to the dealer (only 3k miles). I do experience a very small hesitation @ w.o.t., usually in 2nd gear. Since the reflash is a band-aid, is it my ecu acting up again or is the dealer bs'ing me? Is there a chance that the dealer reflashed it before I took delivery in 10/03 or were some 2003.5's randomly reflashed before they were sold? (scratch)

sorry if old question, did a search and could not find anything similar.

My guess is they are full of it. My dealership didn't even believe there was a flash for it till I got on their computer and pulled up the TSB from this site. They said "Oh, can you print that off or me?" I think there should be some paperwork if they have indeed flashed it. True?

My car is flashed. I have no sticker or paperwork or anything of the sort anywhere on my car saying the flash was done. But it definitely was done because the difference was clearly noticeable.

In the message sent to all Mazda dealers concerning the MSP and the PCM reprogramming, it said all current stock (any unsold MSP's) were to be flashed. This was back around September 2003. Not every dealership did this, but it was what they were supposed to do. Seeing as how you bought your MSP in October 2003, there's a decent chance it is flashed.

BTW I still get a bit of hesitation @ WOT even with the flash...try about 2/3 - 3/4 throttle...it will be faster with less hesitation

I got mine flashed last week and it was the first the dealer ever heard of it. I would think there were would at least be something on record if you check the vin# at the dealership. I don't have a sticker, but I do have a maintnance receipt.

I would say it probably was flashed since they claimed it already was. It's easy enough to do that there's really no reason for them to be BS'ing you about it. I got mine flashed, didn't make much difference so I went to a different dealer that I trusted to "check it out" and he said it indeed was flashed. So I'm kind of in the same boat as you. If I had to guess, I'd guess you're flashed.

Same here- they didnt have a clue about it - they said that my car did not have any outstanding work to be done- I said look guys- i KNOW there are at least 2 TSB's I want fixed (ECU and "KLADUNK" ) - they looked at me all friggen weird untill I told him to go to msprotege.com and check for yourself-

E-codes ordered ECU reflashed today - WOW makes hella difference in 2nd gear!

tell the service manager to pull up your car;s file on his computer.
usually by giving the vin, they can get to that screen.

below the VIN, there should be a line saying "PCM re-flash"
if it's not there the car hasnt been flashed, if it is, then it has.

After the flash was released, the dealers were instructed to flash all remaining inventory before delivering to the customers. Your car was probably flashed before you bought it.

Here is my A/F reading from my dyno test i got done the other day... my car is bone stock since i got it about 2 weeks ago. By the readings on this I would not know whether it is flashed or not.. it seems a little rich low end, but once the RPM's get higher it seems about right.

I havent brought my car in for service so I do not know whether it is flashed or not at this point...

That torque curve explains why my car feels faster at ~4000 rpms compared to ~6000 rpms. Too bad HP isn't on the dyno chart
