Holy crap long sentence

So let me make sense of what your asking.

You have a 04 rx8 that is or was your dads that you are trying to repair. The issue is possibly with the clutch but you are not sure. The pedal is really soft but the clutch still grabs. Your also asking where the brake fluid is (I assume since your checking the clutch hydraulics).

Couple of questions...is the clutch holding? As in does it slip or is it actually grabbing and holding the power?

Where are you located, we have some international member and this will determine what side of the car the brake resevoir is one. (Lhd it is on the left side of the vehicle, ie all american cars)

Could be the trans fluid level or even condition, possible slave cylinder or as you thought it could be the clutch. How many miles on the car?

From what you are saying I would be thinking trans. The trans fluid is really easy to change, and you can do the diff fluid while you are down there.

Is it hard to shift into all gears? If not then which ones? Does the clutch pedal feel solid (mechanically I mean, as they are pront to structural failure)?
