Dose anyone know the code, I think it's the chassis identafier code, for the protege or protege5? Examples are the toyota corolla gt-s is the "AE-86" and the last gen mazda RX-7 was the "FD" and the last Skyline GT-R was "R32" Anybody know what I'm talking about? I don't know where to look to find this info. Any help would be coo. :D

I believe the chasis identifier is "BJ" for thrid generation Proteges including the P5. Those are the letters in the VIN number that identify the cars as third gens.

If I'm wrong, someone feel free to correct me.

Tex your right...Pretty much all third gen Proteges are considered the "BJ" chassis cars...

The 3rd gen protege is the "BJ" chassis code...by the way, the last Skyline GT-R is the BNR34, and the RX-7 was the FD3S

hahaha...311mazda,
you were watching Initial D weren't you?..lol..

Initial D > all

haha Yeah, I have this old toyota carina, and I recently found out its code was "TA12" And saying that is cooler than saying 72' Carina, so I was hopeing the protege had a simmilar thing but BJ? I dunno... :) Thanks for the info guys.

There are 3 chassis codes for 99 and up Proteges. BJEP is for the Protege Sedans and BJEW is for the Wagon. The third is BJFP, but I haven't figured out what it is for.;)

What's "Initial D?" And I guess I'm too old or something but how/why would it be "cooler" to refer to your car by the chassis code????

For an old car, yeah I can see the point when talking parts and restoration etc., the variations in a chassis code might be significant, but for a 2002??? When would it ever come up?

Initial D is a very cool Japanese drifting anime series. The characters are done using regular 2D animation and the cars/scenery are done using CGI. Neat stuff :)

sounds like BJFP is possibly the Mazdaspeed pro.

All 3rd generation protege and protege 5's are refered to as the BJ chassis. The BJFP refers to the 3rd gen FS series engine protege sedan and BJFW refers to the 3rd gen FS series engine protege 5. I'm quoting this ifo directly from the Protege FAQ on www.protegetech.com Where are you guys finding your info?
