Mazda Protege '97 A/C Problems

Hey guys,

I really didn't know where to post this, so please move this topic if needed.

I have a problem with my AC. I life in Louisiana and I have around 95000 miles on my Mazda Protege '97. It's always humid and very hot down here, so I always turn on the AC. But every time I do, for the first 2-3 minutes of it working, a really, really bad smell comes out from the air vents.

So I was wondering, is there maybe an AC filter that I could change or something (I need a tutorial), because every time I start the car, it's like somebody died inside my AC.

PS: If you maybe know of another site that could be of help, I'd greatly appreciate it if you gave me a link.

Not sure if there are any filters available but i would assume your problem is actually mold/mildew in the duct system. They actually have antibacterial scented sprays you can use that should clear up your problem. You would run your ac on max and spray it into the air intake in the cowl piece by your wipers. I would assume most parts stores should carry it and it is a inexpensive product.
