I have a 1992 mazda mx3 1.6L SOHC. im looking into buying the BPT motor for it, and it comes with the AWD tranny. can i put the motor onto my stock fwd tranny????
mazda mx3 BPT motor...awd or not.

I can't answer your question, but so far, you are the only other MX-3 I've seen listed. Mine is the 1992 1.8L (V-6) 5-spd, fastback-style, 2-door. (Built in 1991, actually, according to door sticker) I have never seen this model before, and they don't even acknowledge it in the "25 years of Mazda History" Link. It looks similar to the RX-8 of today, except the trunk area is part of the fast-back styling, it has a small whale-tail, and the RX-8 looks more "Robotic" in style. I am in the process of putting in a new fuel filter, as it just "died" one day, last week. (The filter seems to top the list, of reasons for this, and not wanting to re-start.) I am hoping its not the $200 Fuel Pump!!

I believe that you can use a G series fwd tranny when you do the BPT swap. The G series tranny im pretty sure you can use is the G25M-R. You can also use the F25M-R, but those trannys are weaker. I hopse this helps. Im not sure which tranny the MX3 has, but this site might help you.

so If i read those charts on the trannies and engines that are able to bolt up then almost anything could be possible as far as motorswaps. sorry If I sound stupid I am new to the mazda scene lol been a honda owner for way to long.

I am just wondering what motor I should go with in my 3rd gen protege since I have spun a rod bearing. I have heard from a few friends to look into the BPT but I dont think Mazda is as universal as honda in their trannies. from the looks of it i should be able to ust the f25m-r tranny with the bpt but it also looks like i could have some problems in other areas. So if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
