So I read somewhere that mazda motorsports is offering the MS3 MazdaSpeed CAI for $220

Problem is, in order to view their page you have to register and registering requires you to click a button that says "I race within the United States, Canada...etc"

If I recall correctly, this sounds like what Mitsubishi did with new EvoVII owners. When they bought the car they gave them a free membership to an autocross group, then went back and cross-referenced autocross members with their current owners list and automatically voided the warranty for anyone who entered their car in competition. There was some sort of fine print where if the car was used for any sort of competition the warrenty was void whether or not they could prove the competiton damaged whatever part.

(which also means that I'm in EMS and can't add lights to my car)

With that said, has anyone looked into the legal issues of saying "I competitively race my car" when attempting to get warranty service for their MS3? If that's the case, the cost savings are negligible since the main reason for the mazdaspeed CAI is to maintain the warranty with no questions asked.

One last item -- assuming that saying "I race" is legal grounds for voiding the warrenty and assuming someone has already registered.... is anyone willing to bite the bullet and get a couple intakes for members?

I'm really hoping someone has checked it out and can verify....

Quite honestly I'm suprised at 65+ views and one response

anyone else? (poke)

its times like this I really miss my RSX and Land Rover Discovery Forums

120+ Views and no concrete response... on those boards we had half the members but twice the response -- and I find it really really hard to believe that NO ONE has checked it before

we used to call it "honda help" -- looks like w/ mazda you're on your own

Well...you posted this in the Mazda3 section. I'm willing to bet there aren't many Mazda3 owners who are fully familar with Mazdaspeed Motorsports. Posting it in the Racing section would have probably gotten a little quicker response.

I've never heard of any cross referencing between Mazdaspeed Motorsports and Mazda N/A in reference to denying warranties.

Also, buying parts through Mazdaspeed Motorsports that are not for your car can be grounds to have your account cancelled.

If you are autocrossing your car you have more to worry about from your insurance company than you do from Mazda. Remember...it's not a race. It's a car control event.

First page is for a mazda 3. click to view me! The second page is for a mazdaspeed 3 oh so expensive!I doubt 220 for the speed3 intake is possible. To be honest I don't know what you drive. I don't even know what your asking for really anymore. Are you asking if 220 is the right intake, or if buying it from them will void your warranty. In any case there many other vendors that don't require a signed in blood contract about racing to buy parts.

I suppose what I was asking was if they are associated with Mazda corporate and are offering cheap parts in exchange for admitting that you race your car.

Since racing the car voids the ENTIRE warranty, not a piece by piece warranty, it seems like a tactic to save on warranty repairs... or perhaps its just my paranoia

Did that last statement make sense? I can't think straight, stupid migraine (sp?) headache

at any rate ... I sincerely appreciate the responses

It's just your paranoia. I've never heard of Mazda N/A going to Mazdaspeed Motorsports and asking for information to void warranties. Mazda N/A uses motorsports to promote the brand. If they tried to pull a warranty stunt like that they would have 1000's of loyal owners and enthusiasts pissed off.

Yeah, I would imagine that the Miati racers would have run into this issue long before us if it were true.
