Mazda maintenance..

Got your site from a friend because I'm asking for some help regarding my Mazda 3, I have it for almost 7 months already, haven't experienced problems with it but lately I felt something wrong.
The last time I got my maintenance, the mechanic said I have to replace my Mazda Valve cover. Where can I get something that won't be rusty at all, can plastic survive? Other ideas I need. Thanks.

if its just a valve cover yea plastic can survive. why do you have to replace the valve cover though? is it leaking?? are you sure that you cant just replace the gasket?

A lot of the valve covers in modern cars are plastic these days... less weight and yes they will last jsut fine... that website you linked about covers is total BS... valve covers shouldnt leak after 30K miles

Im not sure why your mechanic would be telling you that you need a NEW valve cover... its easy to check if you do... do you see any oil leakage or seepage on the seam between cover and engine?

Most of the time all you need is a new gasket but the labor is prob. a lot more money than a new cover so Im assuming thats why mechanic is telling you that a new one is needed...

How many miles does your 3 have???

BTW you may get more responses if you post in engine section and/or general section rather than the forced induction section...

It's also helpful if you tell us the year and trim of your 3 and a few more details about the symptoms.
