Here is my end of month responce from Scott, the head Customer SErvice mgr. It SPECIFICALLY STATES THE PROBLEM, AND WHAT IS BEING DONE TO FIX IT. NON BELIEVERS, READ IT AND WEEP, OHHH AND KISS MY ASS TOO. (upyours)

Granted, according to this email, it seems it will be end of august, or early september before a fix is released, but here is an official notification acknowledging the issue.

Hi Craig!

As promised, I want to give you a brief update on where we are at
concerning the issue you raised with the MAZDASPEED Proteg.

First, you should know that there are at least 15 individuals involved
in this matter now, including executive-level quality and engineering
people. We have begun weekly conference calls with everyone to ensure
progress is made. Second, we fully understand your concern, and are
working on a recalibration of the control module (the brain) for the
optimum resolution. We expect to begin testing the recalibration in
August.

I will give you another update by the end of August (or sooner if there
is significant news) when I should be able to give you some more
specifics as to how and when we will be able to help you and the other
owners.

Take care, and thanks again for your support while we work through this
together.

Manager, Customer Assistance

sweet; great news for all you speed guys...now get this guy on the clunk!

Its definetly progress which is really good. But I still get that feeling that its a day late and a dollar short.

Well you know company tries to rush products out and tries to get market share and brand name out, that way they can sell better in the future and get revenue from maintenance. I think Mazda is doing as fast as it can as a big corporation to address this problem. Although they're a bit slow on catching this mistake(should of caught it while in testing). At least they admit their mistake and are working to fix it. Some company won't admit their mistake and fix the problem like a huge Japanese automaker, who started out as manufactor of corks.

Thank you Bootisgood, you're awesome!

ok so let's plan this ahead... who wants to chip in money for a person to do a dyno before and after the flush just in case they make our speed slower... i'll be the first to put 10 dollars in there :) anyone else?

Yeah, I found this out when getting my car back from service today.

The PTCM is the problem, and they're expecting to have a fix later this year. If I didn't have to wait, I'd be jumping up and down with joy. :)

(trying ******* hard NOT to blow a gasket here)
Dood, no matter what you do to your car, the MFR, not the dealer, the MFR of your car needs to prove, in writing, that your mods are the cause of warranty issue. I thought the link I put in one of your previous posts about Warranty issues cleared this up. IF you missed it here is the link again http://www.msprotege.com/vbb225/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21034

With that ******* said, it will probably be a TSB. FOR ALL YOUR FUCKTRADS THAT DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE HELL THAT IS, I WILL EXPLAIN.

A tsb is a Technical Service Bulletin. This lets the Service dpts know that there is a NON SAFTY RELATED ISSUE with a car. If the customer complains of the symptoms described in said TSBm first confirm the issue, and repair per TSB.

So with that said, you would have to show a conserne to your service dept about the hesitation, they would confirm the issue, and thus, REFLASH YOUR CURRENT ECU. They are the reprogrammable type from MAzda. :D

boost.....man, I feel your frustration, and i know 1st hand what it's like

.....damn fine job.

btw to those who are too lazy to read about the clunk, the states is aware of it, and is working on the fix as well.

If we can get the hesitation and clunk fixed. This car will ROCK.

GO GET EM BOY!!!!!

thanks

One more time just to clarify boostisgood,
so, if i voice concern that i have the hesitation issue to my service department they will know that there is this issue and wont say jack about my mods, they will just reflash the ecu if my description of the hesitation is what is stated by the MFR correct?

LOL, I just checked my email and I saw that I was copied on that email Craig!!! Pretty cool - I've pestered them a lot less than you but they put me in the loop with you! Awesome!

I did reply just thanking them for the update and their work so far, and I voluteered myself (and you :p ) as a test subject if they happen to need one.:)

Awesome Boost! Great work on this, thanks on behalf of everyone. Now I just need to find a Mazda dealer in the bay area that won't look at me like "huh?, what?" when I try to tell them about this stuff. I can't believe how much black crap is on my exhaust after only 1500 miles, how anyone could see that and say the car isn't running rich is beyond me.
