The blind spots to me are no big deal, I have the mirrors adjusted to use them, and gas mileage i feel is fair for this vehicle. I agree the rav 4 offers better mpg, but it's such a girly, vanilla styling car-and the tire on the back would suck as well. Other wise the review I agree with. Nice!.......those were just my opinions by the way.

I think you touched on the blind spots too much. My wife has never even complained about the view out back. I'm glad you hammered home the handling and fuel economy. However, you said, "and don't forget, it runs on premium gasoline." This isn't necessarily true. While the 2007's required it, the 2008's only "suggest" it. Too many people think because its a four cylinder it should get awesome mileage. What they fail to think of is that that four cylinder is turbo charged and pushing around between 3,710 lbs for a FWD Sport and 3,929 for an AWD Grand Touring.

Other than that, I like it.

Nice review, but quite dated. It's from Dec 2007. I'm just wondering why it's posted 7 months, after-the-fact?

If it's meant to reinforce the positive feelings we already have about our rides, then great! (drinks)

Blind spot is only an issue for shorter drivers who do not properly adjust their mirrors. So if you are vertically challenged and adjust all mirrors to look at the same spot directly behind the car you will have problems.

I have yet to see any Mazda tech sheet allowing non premium gas to be used. I know some sales lizards have told people that. But owners of 2008 on other forums reported cars that run and shift like crap when used.

Mileage is about 1 less freeway than I was expecting. 21-22 mpg when driven on the freeway at 65mph with a light pedal. So while I would love it to get 35mpg it gets close to what I expected when I purchased it so I really cannot b****.

My only issue with the car is the Nanny Programming which when combined with computer controlled throttle and shifting makes the car way slower than it needs to be when taking off.

Throttle pedal may be floored but computer does not give you 100% power. Many called this turbo lag. It is not. It is the darn ECU restricting power which was really bad initially. Reprogramming does not eliminate turbo lag. Yet the reprogramming made this better. It is still not as good as I want.

Boost restricted in first 2 gears, top speed capped at 119mph, shifting is slow to respond to manual shifts.

So I am planning on some mods to help with this and any that Mazda come up with would be appreciated.
