Don't know where else to post this...

Anyone know anything about this car? When I was at work last night, one of the local RX7 clubs had a meeting upstairs at the dealership, and one of the guys asked if we'd ever seen a Cosmo (sp?), and that there was one sitting outside.

Since I was at reception, I couldn't go take a look at it until the dealership closed, and by then it was really dark. I don't know if it was imported (there were a bunch of people talking around the car, and I didn't want to be rude by pressing my face against the window to see if it was right-hand drive or interrupt them), or what year it was, though it looked kind like a late 80's/early 90's body style, kind of 626-ish and a little more square, rather than rounded. All I know is it has two doors, it DOES have a rotary, and yes it IS a Mazda.

I tried looking a little online, but all that came up was stuff referring to cars produced in the 70's and earlier, and the pictures shown were nothing like what I saw.

So yeah, any ideas? (shrug)

When did Mazda stop making them - or are they still in production? Were they only available in Japan, etc? I guess I'm just curious because I've never heard of it before.

They were imported. I've seen a few, but pics would help if you had them Andrea.

I prefered the 510 Datsuns from around the mid-70s time frame. I can't imagine they made them for too long as they were RX-5s (I don't belive the first rotary though). Check out Mazda's corporate site for more info.

they have carb 13bs

attached pic

hint: its not the probe

3 Rotor NA or 3 rotor TT in later models. the car that started it all. Before the RX-3 which was made to compete with the harasuka GTR aka "skyline."

D - didn't have the digi-cam with me the other night, so no pics, sorry (and yes, I was kicking myself that I didn't have it with me)

Senor - DEFINITELY newer than that

Norwegian - that sounds like the proper 'year' for what I saw, but can't view the link at work (d!#m 'parental control', what do they think I am, a kid?! :D, will have to check it out when I get home tonight)

Andrea, I'm pretty sure they were probably talking about the one Corwin posted. But the engine designation was a 20a or soemthing, wasn't it? It was carb'd, but it was a 2 liter tri rotor.

Awesome, thanks Ken! I did like what I saw - would have loved it even better if I could have heard it... (and I think it was TT) :D

"The triple rotor 20B had two liters (1962cc) of displacement, which is quite large for a rotary powerplant. It produced 299 hp (224 kW) and 300 ft.lbf (402 Nm) with twin turbochargers."
