I got mine yesterday and right off the bat I noticed something very distinctive. In the the pics posted in the lower left hand corner you can see a little box thats etched into the IM, and inside it is a number. If someone can touchup this pic and get that number I will post the pic of mine and prove its the same manifold. As soon as I took it out of the box I saw that, looked at this pic and laughed, who in the hell makes a so called custom IM and it has the same part #? hmmmm

anyway I will post pics tonight of the stock manifold vs the 626 one, and I am going to Mazda today to have them pull up the EGR pipe to see if its diff or not. If it diff I am going to buy it. Then hopefully I will have time this weekend to go dyno, install this and redyno the b**** to settle this once and for all (deadhorse(deadhorse(deadhorse

Trust me Bryan has no reason to lie. I am sure he will post the pics, unfortunetly he jumped the gun a little and put it on before he took it to the dyno lol.

As for Cullen, he wont answer any of this, hence why this started months back.
 
dynos are expensive damn lol. I am a college student and 80 dollars to dyno is like my food money for a month lol.

If peeps pitched in, i would go tomorrow, but damn I got bills to pay lol.

I can post pics of it installed no problem. Im telling you though, it doesnt look much different then our stock one. Keep posted for pics, i will have them by tonight. ( i have 2 exams today :( )

I feel ya being a broke college kid - I know the feeling. Props to ya for getting the IM installed and (hopefully) putting the question to rest.

Bryan, where did you get your mani from? Was it around here? I'd like to pick one up and port/polish it over the winter, then install it in the spring.

Bryan, nice sig, shows that you are out for blood and make SU to be some bad company rather than you testing and researching the IM to see what the deal is with the IM's. And please don't complain about not having money to get some dyno runs, you have $10K under your hood. That ain't nobodies business but yours but you were real quick to get $ together to get the junk yard manifold.

Tekkie, jump on Bryan's ban wagon big dog. All due respect, if it weren't for followers like you, we wouldn't have a ban wagon to laugh at. But now you got members laughing at SU for the IM mishap, so congrats, you are successful.

For the most part, you guys know the jist of how SU is getting these manifolds, if not, I will make a new thread with the history of how we got the manifold to work.

JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE ON THIS FORUM, NO ONE KNEW A 626 MANIFOLD WOULD WORK. NEITHER DID WE, HECK, I HAVE NEVER BEEN AROUND A 626 TO KNOW WHAT THE IM LOOKS LIKE. IF THIS HAPPENS TO BE A 626 CLONE OF SOME SORT, I WILL DROP THIS COMPANY I AM GETTING THEM FROM AND START OVER.
 
They are making cast copies of the 626 manifold, drop them Cullen. Fabricate a short runner steel manifold and you're in business once again.
 
SU is clearly a reputable company in my book, I don't think anyone should be hating on them for what has happened, but I do think that Cullen you were ripped off and need to drop that company and take this biznass into your own hands, just like you took care of the street rings, the demand was high, now give us the supply

********** are you going to buy a Junkyard manifold and compare the IM that your getting from your Supplier to see the difference????

I think your responce was positive after all that has been said about your company from others....Everyone has been mislead at sometime...
plus I think that the thread should have started to inform you (SU) that your manifold looks like the 626's and that you should question your supplier not that your selling the actual 626 manifolds....the gains was there so im sure not even I would have questioned the supplier if I was you (SU)....

If there are proven gains with the 626 mani, and easy install.... it is not worth SU's time to comapre their mani. The only way for SU to come out on top is to design a sheet metal IM or something different. Nobody can compete with a performance product that is cheap and readily available like a junkyard part. This is unfortunate for SU, a reputable vendor.

Only other option would be to purchase 626 manis (not the ones from Japan or wherever), PnP, hone, etc and sell them complete for a good price. People would have to understand that these are 626 manis, but it is much easier than going to a junkyard and taking it somewhere to hone and PnP, etc, etc. It would all be done for you.... straight bolt-on. Personally i would just go to a junkyard, but others might like a package like this.
 
A comparative test to the 626 IM on SU site would go a long way to making the $500 worthy or not to begin with instead of just claims like everybody on ebay makes just to sell s*** & killing the first 15 pages of arguing about this. On the other hand there are way too many people calling BS on SU that have NOT put forth any proof of (a) SU just selling overpriced IM cause he can so he can make money (b) 626 is really better & for which cars. There's more info to be had before making decisions of what is best for your particular car. Talking s*** only makes your teeth stained & makes others wish you had some mouthwash. Has anybody got proof of what's better for NA & what's better for turbo cars? (o crap, wuz that possesive what or plural what or what is? - waddabunchaspellcheckinggrammarpolicethreadwastinbullshit )

If the 626 has gains (waiting for dyno), my guess is the SU IM would have about the same. For $500 it would have to provide much better performance than a junk-yard part.... but most people on this forum would still just buy a junkyard part. My point was there would not be enough sales to justify all this testing.
 
Back to the EGR tube.....
1)Bryan is not running it, would that throw a CEL?
2)would another vaccuum source suffice rather than the exhaust manni?
3)Just to clear up the EGR- tube from IM to EM(simply put)?

Please !!! now your making us out to be the bad guys, I think thats funny, in case you have not noticed we are not the ones selling it. In the original threads months back you were told it was a 626 manifold and you were much to arrogant to listen, we were MAM people sent to beatup poor SU. We told you time and time again it had nothing to do with that and that we believed you were getting hosed. But instead of listening you continued to tell everyone there was no way it was a 626 one and that yours was customized, did you even bother checking? obviously not. And up until right now you have been defending that.

So I still ask the question what is the difference between them, since you kept insisting there was something different? so please tell eveyone why they paid you $600 for this thing when they could buy it from Mazda cheaper. And I expect that you will be offering everyone a full refund if they ask?

Cullen be real man, I think the issue is that you got taken for a ride by whoever is feeding you these things and I feel sorry about that, s*** happens for sure. The issue I see is again instead of trying to figure that out you continued to insist that it was not possible and your product was the real deal.

As for us being on the bandwagon and being laughed at? wtf is that all about? I dont see to many people laughing at this situation do you? I think its sad that we had to go through this whole point just to prove this dumb point. Do you think I wanted to spend 300+ bucks so I can go dyno my car twice, buy this manifold and then waste my time installing it? I dont even plan to keep the damn thing, I am going with a sheet metal one anyway. The only reason I said anything was because I was sick and tired of you discounting everyones threads and that you were right.

Is it personal? for me no its not, I would have done the same thing with any other vendor and yes even MAM.

Here is how we differ from you, we took the time to investigate it, we are helping our members out. And the sad part is I believe we have spent more money in R&D than you have. On that topic since you keep insisting you invested money into the R&D please give us a breakdown of it because I will be very curious to see it.

Moral of the story next time you should respect some of these people when they tell you something instead of discounting their claims that we are all dumb kids. If you had said from the beginning oh s*** you guys might be right, I will put everything on hold until I figure this out we would have been happy with this, and everyone would have been happy.
