Mazda 6 Tick or knock when started

My mazda 6 when started up has a knock or tick when started. but once at operating temperature it goes away.

I change oil every 3000-4000 miles.

An clues what to expect or if it should be something that needs a repair?

Yeah I get the samething. Its kind of annoying and I have no idea what it is. I'm not even going to bother taking it to Mazda, because they will say they cant duplicate the issue!! Lol.

This is common, particularly as weather gets colder. Every winter there are people that bring this up as a concern. Don't worry about it. In colder weather, the engine's oil is thicker and does not pump as easily throughout the engine. The valvetrain has not been properly lubricated and will make a little noise. As the car warms up, the oil thins out and pumps more evenly throughout the engine effectively lubricating the valvetrain.

Just make sure that you let the car run (even when it's warm) for at least 90-120 seconds before you drive, thus putting load on the engine. If you do that, you'll be alright.
