Mazda 6 Rims on P5 with 215/45/17's ???

I'm trying to see whether Mazda 6 wheels will fit on the P5 with 215/45/17 tires. I've seen members with 215/40/17's.

Anyone know whether this combo works? Does the 60 offset cause a problem? I read through Rischie's guide, but I'm not finding an answer.

Thanks in advance,

Shaun

Well, I'm running K-Sports, so I may not be the best judge but...

With K-Sports, I don't think you could get that combo to work. I had to get spacers front and rear (5/16") just to fit 205/40... and there's maybe 5 pieces of paper worth of clearance between the lower mount and the tire with them.

How much difference do stock or another kind of strut make? I have no idea... Plus, a 215/45 is going to be too tall. It'll throw off your speedo and I would think it'd look weird.

Thanks. The Mazdaspeed Protege came stock with 215/45... and I have the MSP wheels on my P5 now. Looks great, not too tall, and no fender gap. I just don't know if the Mazda 6 stock rims fit the same... because I know the offset is higher.

i had to get a wheel alignment to get the back wheels to fit. if they are not straight they will rub the struts

If the Mazda 6 rims are 7" wide and the offset is 60 then more than likely you are going to get rubbing on the rear struts. I have 7" wide MX-5 (Miata) rims on my MP3 - these have a 55 offset and they are pretty close to the struts. Not sure, but clearance to your calipers may also be an issue.

You should stick with the MSP wheels if you want to run a tire that big. The 6s higher offset won't change the height of the wheel/tire but it will push it out closer to hiting the fender. If you really want the 6 wheels then you are going to need to use a smaller tire, maybe a 215/40 but probably a 205/40.
