323 gtx 1.6 16v turbo 4x4
hey i have recently bought a mazda 323 gtx rally car and bought it not going after new timing belt new coil and a bit of work i got it running well but i was testing it threw a forrest and the petrol light came on and she cut out so i asumned it was out of petrol and put petrol in but can not seem to get it goin i towed it and it went briefly but would not rev out so i done a compresssion test and i am getting 135 psi across all cylinders so assumed it was ok as they are all the same and she is getting spark and petrol to the rail. i was thinking the knock sensor is varying the spark or something i am clutching at straws tho. if anybody has any information it would be a help because this is my first gtx

Check the crank pulley and make sure it's still there, they have issues and end up snapping off. Also make sure the timing belt didn't break or jump a few teeth, also check inter cooler piping . Motors are damn near indestructible and don't take much to run but cars are rare along with parts over here in the us we only got 1200, I love mine

She is still turnin over perfect doubt she wouldn't with no crank pulley and does the inter cooler piping stop her from starting is 135psi normal compression does anyone know

Did you mash one of the fuel lines under the car? If the fuel light came on the triggers for that are the pumps in the tank. If the car was low on fuel I would say the trasnfer pump took a dive on you but with a full tank check out the pump behind the drivers seat and make sure it is working.

I took the pipe off that's going to the rail and it's getting a full flow through it would there be anything else stopping her from goin with good spark and petrol maybe a plug or relay

Yes inter cooler piping coming off will keep it from runing I had a lot of issues keeping my hot pipe on with a vj11 it kept blowing off above 12 psi

Fuel light being on isn't the issue that's just the sending unit which is pretty common it works on it's own

If the crank pulley broke off it will turn over but def won't run. 135 psi is about right they're only 7.9:1 compression stock

Corks sport should start selling stuff for these again ( hint hint)
