I have a 2006 Mazda 3i, 5-speed manual; and my clutch has been giving me some problems lately. I have to rev the engine a bit higher to get it going in first, and sometimes the car will give me that "shutter" you get right before the car is going to stall and I have to give it some serious gas to keep it from stalling. I haven't yet determined if the clutch is actually on it's way out (I only have ~79,000 miles on the car), or if some part of the clutch assembly is creating problems (e.g. throw bearing, etc.). Anyway, this whole thing has got me thinking about getting a new clutch for the car.
I came across a Mazda 3 Sport Clutch Kit (part# RAMS-8M-L01) and it seems like a pretty good deal because it is only $90 more than the stock clutch ($180 vs. $270). Just wanted to know if anyone has installed this clutch kit on their car and what their feedback is. Also, if anyone has any suggestions on how to diagnose my clutch problem, or any other suggestions on replacing the clutch, I'd much appreciate it. Thanks.
