Mazda 3 Radio Wont Work

Ok, so i installed an aftermarket head unit into the mazda 3, and i had to mess with the parking brake wire for the headunit so the DVD picture shows, they said to ground the wire and run a toggle switch, some how i guess there was a short when i turned the radio on and the top display panel went and the head unit went also.

I Checked the radio fuse that is under the the passenger side, and i also changed the fuse under the hood. Fuses are all good but still no power to the radio, I even hooked the stock radio back up and still nothing. Any ideas?

Well, find the wire that is the power for the unit and make sure you have 13.2 VDC +/- as close to the unit as you can access. "Parking brake wire for the head unit"? Ground what wire? What's the toggle switch supposed to do?

DVD indash, require you to "have your parking brake on" in order to view pictures or watch a movie on your radio. Thats what the parking brake wire is for and it needs to be grounded on a switch to toggle it, making it seem like you turned your parking brake on.

But as far as power goes, I cant figure out why there is no power coming to the wire harness, i checked the audio fuse and radio fuse and both are good, under the hood is a 30amp fuse and under the passenger side is a 7.5amp fuse. Is there a 3rd ??

Alright so i went to the dealer to figure out what fuse might be the reason for the radio not working and he said it might be the "room" fuse, which is under the hood (15a). Turned out that was the fuse that was blown, making the radio not work.

So in the future for anyone else, there are 3 fuses that can stop your radio from working:

Audio: 30a under hood
Room: 15a under hood
Radio: 7.5 under glove box
