Mazda 3 5th gear

ok i have a question about the 08 mazda 3 i 5th gear. i was driving on the highway the other day and noticed that in 5th gear at 75 mps my rpms were hovering around 3,000 and 3,250. i was just wanting to know is this normal? i have heard mazda 3 engines are high reving engines but i figured 3,250 was a little high considering that most other 4 cylinder engines can do 75 at around 2,500 rpms.

Mine does about 3000 rpm at 110 km/h or 68 mph. I've never driven any other 4cyl before, or paid attention anyway. Maybe it is what makes these cars sportier than the civics? However, it drives me crazy when my gf drives hers at 80km/h in 4th.

Sounds perfectly normally. Ive never heard of any 5spd 4bangers doing a 2500rpm 75mph...
