hi everyone.
I am new here, just would like to ask about the Mazda 2 trunk problem I have.
for some reason, I cant open my trunk by the remote. is there a way I can fix it myself?
thanks Iris

I'd inspect the latch to see if it's sticking, and not fully disengaging. Barring that, if you don't hear the solenoid "pop" to open the trunk, it might be the solenoid itself that's not engaging properly. If it's a newer car (still under warranty) I'd just take it back to the dealer, that shouldn't be considered a wear item.

If it's not still under warranty, I'd see about having a handy friend pop the little cover of the trunk off, and seeing if there's anything stuck inside, or if the motor/solenoid for the trunk popper isn't getting power or is burnt out.

I actually went through that issue last year during the winter. The motor for some reason "froze" up even though it was only 40*f outside. I took the entire trunk apart and messed with the motor and all.
First is to listen to see if the trunk is locking/unlocking via button.

hi, genericmoniker, thanks for the reply. my Mazda is 2008. so there is no trunk release switch I can press, right? I just remember last week, the door light on the dashboard was showing the trunk was not shut properly, do u think it has something to do with the issue?
