2011 M2
Im a bit in a quandry...My 2011 M2 has tire size of 185/55/15....I want to put 4 snows on her...what sizes will fit aside from the standard due to the tires I want dont come in that size....the sizes in question are 185/65/15 185/60/15 195/55/15....They will all be studded....Thank you...

I am certain that some of these tires will NOT fit studded. I tried 185/65-15 non-studded and they did not fit!
Try the search function. I have a thread started re. winter tires. It may also help if you rename yours something like Studdable Winter Tires.

You can drop down to 175/65/14. Narrower winter tires are better for cutting through plus tires are cheaper in that size. That's assuming you will be putting your winter tires on dedicated wheels which is always recommended so your not always swapping them off and on the same wheels as your all season/summer tires.

tirerack has mazda2 aluminum wheel and winter tire packages together for the high 500 dollar range (14").

Looks like its going to be 175/55/15 on stock rims....bridgestone blizzacks ws 60...any experience with those tires ?

Yep, they rock!! Excellent traction. AND unlike 3 other snow tires I've had, are stabil in the dry, not too much tread squirm. Good on ice as well as snow, I'm debating on getting a set. It will depend on how the oem toyos handle the snow :)

Hi El,

Just a curiousity question. Have you driven on studs before? I tried a set years ago and really didn't like them. On bare pavement the tires felt "un-connected".

Of course, YMMV.

BTW, the Blizzaks are excellent.

Im in the same boat XCLR8TN, if the stock tires suck up here in ohio...ill slap on some snow tires on the oem or race wheels. My whole commute is straight highways so, im debating if i could get away with just the fronts...anyway...Im waiting on the 1st significant snowfall to see if we will even need them.

if you want to keep your stock wheels for winter and get something bigger for summer like me; i have General Altimax Arctic and i love, love, love them! low road noise and excellent grip! i've gone though a foot of snow with no problem and my stopping distance dramatically decreased!

at only $292 for the set of 185/65/15 on tirerack, which will fit on the 2's wheels it's a really good deal!

"Narrower winter tires are better for cutting through plus tires are cheaper in that size." <<< this is definitely true!

also remember that the second number such as '65' is just the sidewall height, so you can change that without changing the wheel size.

John, Ive studded out my cars since the early 80's...no problems and Ive been a bit over 100mph on them....The Blizzaks are not studable thus I am a bit apprehensive about their safety in dire conditions.....
