Matrix owners bashing the P5

they continue to tell me that the Matrix/Vibe will outhandle the p5, no competition.....he even went on to since the matrix is on the celica platform and the celica is the 2nd best handling car, next to a nsx....what the hell???too funny
 
True, so true, they're probably just upset because the pt cruiser beat them. Now if they actually showed checks written to Car and Driver from Ford, then I might believe that "Ford pimps it's cars" through that magazine, but seeing as they have no proof, I'll just have to assume there's about as much truth to that statement as there is to " the Matrix is a wonderful looking vehicle that is low to the ground and sticks to the corners like glue."

Heck, the xrs has the 180 hp celica gt's engine in it, and if they want to compare apples to apples, use the mazdaspeed engine, then we'll see who's lacking power. :wtf:
 
Hmpf, guys chill it out a bit. Complaints are Complaints, but only shared by a couple before we jumped in. Many were complaining about the Vibe, and rightfully so.

And mags reporting back on comfort can be a challenging under taking. For what exactly does everyone view as being comfortable. This is a common debate on the Z32 and MKIV forums when reading past reviews. Some like thick seats with variouse degress of laterial support. Others like slighty firmer seats with less support for freedom of movement.

But ahhh there is the time honor discussion of one cars performance over another. Well fear not for they do differ, but the Matrix lacks in certain key areas where as the P5 is decently strong.
On top of that the P5 does not look like a Minivan, where as the Matrix sorta of does. Ever parked the two cars side by side? The height difference is amazing, yet inside is barely noticeable. This will mostly likey be noticed by everyone, and has been noted many times in reviews.

Oh well I'll probably finish reading those post later, kinda of stop after we responded. Not cause we did, but seen this happen way to many times.

Jason, what difference does it make when the thread was from? bulls*** is bulls*** and should be corrected. Who's the brain surgeon who thinks the Celica is the second best handling car I the world next the the NSX (which isn't even the best)? That was worth digging back 20 years for the entertainment value alone. I also love the guy who thinks Car and Driver takes money from Ford. I have suscribed to Car and Driver for 15 years and they have absolutley trashed Ford and their products (and most other domestic cars for that matter) in nearly every issue (with the exception of a Ten-Best Focus--which frankly is good deal it you've only got $13,000 and you want to buy new). If that ass would have read their articles on the whole Explorer tread-separation debacle he/she would have thought that other manufacturers were paying C&D to destroy Ford--they were merciless. The fact is that article (like all C&D articles) explains and justifies every opinion printed. Life and cars can't be reduced to numbers (or we would all be driving Camaros) unless a numbers-argument just happens to justify your loss. ...and we won't out-reason the MIT graduates (Csere), engineers, and professional drivers (Winfield) that write for and edit C&D. But we may have different opinions.

It's not a matter of defending the P5, it's a matter of keeping bad science and undefendable opinions in the trashcans where they belong. You look at this site, z06vette.com and s2ki.com (s2000) and you don't hear that kind of stuff. It's about class...

I can buy a Matrix XRS for around 20k or save 5k and go with a Protege 5 and spend less than 4k of what I saved and put a Turbo w/ intercooler on it. Then there'd be no comparison...all you Matrix and Vibes would be getting a good look at our tailights....all this for STILL more than 2k less than an XRS.

Let me tell you this

I was going to buy that Matrix but when I did some test driving, the car had more rolls in than a bakery. I thought I was in a boat. Back and forth, plus it was 4,000 more with out the stuff that our car has.
So the bigger engine might have more power in the matrix but, it still looks like a pregnant turtle of a car.

They don't handle better than a matrix or Vibe. Off the celica platform( second best handling car made, 2nd to an NSX) A matrix out slaloms a WRX. They are super pimp. And they are faster than an MP5. I've raced 3 in my XR, I don't even have an XRS, and I whooped them. I raced one in my 4th gen celica GTS and spanked it.

There are a few guys in my town. And he said lets do this, and I did. He said I had Juice but I do not. SO bull!@#$.
 
i thought the matrix was based on the corrola platform not the celica, if you look at the dealer tag it will say "Corrola Matrix Wagon"

azeli73 you like that? heheh A guy replied back saying it wasn't a valid argument. But I think I helped him understand what I was talking about.
About it making us look like idiots....why because the post is old? What's that have to do with anything. People resurect old posts on here all the time. Nothing wrong with rekindling and old post- that's why they are archived. :)

Overall though, the guys there are pretty cool. I think the main bashing came from a single member on a rant.
 
well i will just say this. C&D did an article on sport compact cars. they reviewed the MP3, jetta 1.8T, sentra Spec V, dodge neon and 2 other cars. Well of course the MP3 was #1!!!!!!!!!!! My friend had a spec V and was going crazy when he read the article. his whole agrument was "my car is faster then yours, why is yours #1" . My asnwer was read the article.

In the article the writers did say that the MP3 lacked engine wise, but the reason it was #1 was b/c is was the "most fun to drive"! plain and simple.

and guess who was last......the NEON!!! (rofl)

that thing is a POS and seriously i don't care if the new Neon Srt4 or what ever is called has 0129348039248320948320948 hp i still wouldn't drive that car if i was broke and some one paid me to drive that car!!!!!!!!!!!!
