making a turbo awd protege5?

I think it depends on what your priorites are. The STi is a little too 'raw' for some people, who like to be somewhat comfortable in their rocket. I'd never pick an STi over a MS6 despite it being faster.

As far as an STi having better looks...that's definitely subjective.

there is not one bolt or nut between the protege5 and a mazdaspeed6 that are swappable or the same.

you would have much better luck sourcing the AWD parts from the japanese version of the Protege5, the Familia Sport 20. its not a direct bolt up but it can be done easier than what you want to do with the 6 driveline. problem is, as i priced it out, you'd spend 20,000 alone in parts to even get moving on the project.

side note: MS6 > STi. personal opinion anyways - test drive both before making a decision though

How is that true? The STi has more power standard, is lighter, has more aftermarket support, proven rally winner, proven power producer, better looks (IMHO). They aren't even in the same class. The MS6 was meant to be more of a luxury car that hauls, while the Sti was derived from a two door platform (not sure of year)

Noone said which is better. Which is better is all subjective to what you want to do with your car and what you want out of your car.

I know, I know. Ths STi is better in MY opinion. But like I said, two completely different cars.

See?

For you STI > Speed6

For him STI < Speed6

I personally choose a Speed 6 due to it being drawn up from a luxury car that hauls as opposed to a Rally bred car. But, I don't race or rally. It would just be nice to have that extra oomph the Speed 6 has over my Pro5

I prefer something with a little bit more edge. So the less refined STi is perfect for me. I drive a Protege with the 95 duro AWR mounts and 400lb Ground Controls every day...

95 Duro on your daily driver? You ain't kiddin you like a bit more edge.

The first time I drove it after I had them installed, I was almost fooled into thinking I had gotten into a fast car. I love how direct the power delivery is now though, and the vibrations bother me little, if any. It's actually pretty effective for finding things that are loose in the car

Sorry evilmonkey, I'll bow out.

Sorry to start an STi MS6 comparo.

I just had my 70 AWR front mount installed. Vibs ain't too bad, but, I agree with the power delivery now!! And the shifts. Ooooohhh the shifts. Makes the TWM feel completely different now!!

Anyone know if its possible to drop a mazda speed 6 drive train into a mp5 including the motor, awd train, and possibly the suspension and axles?

Instead of spending 26, 000 on a STI i figured i could try to convert my MP5 into a 300hp turbo'd awd beast.

If you can't afford an STI I would suggest getting one of the Saab/ Subaru hatchbacks and modding it.

why would you want an alwheel drive car if your looking for power in my opinion i wouldnt do awd cause you say you want a 300 whp awd that mean your looking at about 400 or so hp. from what i hered you loose about 25% of drive train power but i could be wrong
