making a backup card for the Nav

:
was 175ps Mazda CX-5 Auto AWD Sport Nav, now 190ps DSG Tiguan 4M
How do I make a backup card?

I've got a spare card and thought I could just put it in the card reader and down load my backup from TT home, but its not seeing the card.

Anyone done it?

You have to put it in car and wait for it to tell you there is no map, then put it in PC , how ever i still cant get it to work after that and Ive tried a lot of times.

The way I've made a backup is to copy everything (files and folders) on my SD card into a folder on my pc. I routinely do this before/after version and map upgrades. I used this method to migrate to a larger SD card. Just copied the backup files from my pc to the larger SD card.

When i try that it tells me "You can not use this map Europe-577" !! ?

Okay. Let's be sure we did all the steps, since it was a new card.
1. Format the SD card first (FAT32)
2. Insert the SD card into your NB1 (where you'll get a message of No Map Found). Turn off your car and wait 10-15 seconds before removing the SD card.
3. Put the card in your computer and copy/paste the files from your backup to it.
4. Then start up TT Home and check for any updates.
5. Put the car in your CX-5 and start it up.

Thanks sally it will be next week before I get round to a back up.

Can I ask why do you have to put the card in the cars NB1?

And I assume it won't stop the original from working?

Thanks Sally I have done all that and still no joy. By the way i had read that when you format you should untick the quick format box {might help someone} xtrailman it doesn't stop the original I have done it a LOT of times.

You put it in the card so it can add some hidden files.

If this doesn't work, I'm not sure why. I found this post with a similar error and that is what was the solution.

Well I've done a quick format to fat32 on win 7.

Carried out sally's instructions and now have a working backup, the original is now my spare.

Everything appears to work, but I'll report back if not.

Thanks sally. (cool)
