MagnaFlow exhaust ?s..

I am currently looking into either installing a MagnaFlow 3'' cat back system or the new CP-E 3'' cat back system. My question is. I have read some threads on here that people have stated when installing the MagnaFlow system you have to remove the beauty rings but in doing so the new bigger tips from the MagnFlow exhaust end up melting the lower plastic portion of the bumper. Would cutting off just that portion of the tips, retaining the stock beauty rings and then having the pipe sit just behing those rings cause any change in the sound and or the performance of the exhaust? Kind of a silly question I know but I am curious. The CP-E exhaust looks and sounds great but is also around at least $200.00 more and that is with the pre-order status they are offering and they seem to be having same HP and torque improvements. So any ideas, comments or off the head thoughts would be great.(uhm)

So MagnaFlow is only a 2.5'' system and not a 3''? WOW that makes a big difference as I have the 3'' test pipe ready to be matted up to the exhaust. I guess I was just under the idea the it was a 3''. Thanks for the input and help with me going to the CP-E true 3'' exhaust.
