MAF relocate - any updates from you guys that have it?

Just wanted to see if anyone has had any problems killing the stock MAF in the relocated position.

Can't recall ever hearing anyone say that it has happened, but wanted to check anyways. I'm just trying to put together a list of plans for myself on what to do next with my MSP.

I'm 6 months with no problems... only thing I noticed and it was observed by others as well is that due to not recirculating, you get a very slight bit more lag in turbo spool...

So the turbo lag is increased slightly. Is it to the point of annoying or just enough to be worth mentioning?

I have been contemplating this for a very long time. Since installing my Hiboost kit mostly sitting at idle on super hot days which is coming soon my idle starts to dip and drop off at idle. I have fixed a few boost/vac leaks and exhaust leaks which has helped but not eliminated the problem.

I was about to do it, but figured I would throw it by Juan from Hiboost and he said they solve the problem by drilling an 1/8" hole in the throttle plate to allow constant air flow. I can certainly see how this could help but it seems that a relocated MAF would totally elimnate any lean/rich conditions unless you just max out your injectors at WOT of course. I also read a post where a Mazda Tech said definately not to drill a hole in the throttle plate because it will throw the IAC off among other things.

Anyone with more input?

No new input here, just subbing. I've thought about doing this before too but like hotrod I am also curious as to whether or not anyone has had problems. I know there are MAFs out their that are purpose built to be used on the pressure side of the intake, using ours makes me a little nervous.

just relocate the sucker, i had mine relocated, no issues and the car ran perfect and helped it run a little leaner which is a good thing on the msp since we run pig rich all the time

Relocate your MAF -- but when you do, make sure you buy a backup MAF for $70 or so. That way, JUST because of the fact that you dropped the money on a backup MAF, nothing will EVER go wrong with your original!

Did you put it in the Cold pipe close to the MAF then?
