oh yeah i also have a different final drive gear ratio. not sure by how much but it would also play a part in it.
I start to push the clutch in and shift to my imaginary 6th gear.
thank god mazda has that go into neutral then reverse bit going on... cant tell u how many times i've hit that wall... first im like too far over for a 3rd to 4th shift then i realize what im doing as it starts to get past the middle... lucky theres a block there...Wiggles422 said:push the clutch in and shift to my imaginary 6th gear.
when I'm at 80mph in 5th gear I'm just barely at 3500rpmWiggles422 said:Do you know the new final drive ratio? Cruising at 3,600 rpms is not something I enjoy, everytime i get to about 75 on the on ramp I start to push the clutch in and shift to my imaginary 6th gear.
that is something i was thinking about ...i made a list of mph/rpm numbers and compaired to what was said above about 75mph being 3600 rpm and what mine is, I would be at a high mph at a lower rpm therefore I would think it would be faster in the quarter. to me it seems as if you are at a higher speed at a lower rpm you wouldn't have to shift as much and as often giving you better use of the powerband...but its early and im still tired and dialup is driving me nuts lol so i could be wrong .mazdaspdprotege said:wouldnt the gear ratio change make the car slower in 0-60s and 1/4 miles ?
LOL Me toWiggles422 said:Do you know the new final drive ratio? Cruising at 3,600 rpms is not something I enjoy, everytime i get to about 75 on the on ramp I start to push the clutch in and shift to my imaginary 6th gear.
Actually, that looks damn close to my stock numbers...but I'll double-check.01Se_to_03MSP said:that is something i was thinking about ...i made a list of mph/rpm numbers and compaired to what was said above about 75mph being 3600 rpm and what mine is, I would be at a high mph at a lower rpm therefore I would think it would be faster in the quarter. to me it seems as if you are at a higher speed at a lower rpm you wouldn't have to shift as much and as often giving you better use of the powerband...but its early and im still tired and dialup is driving me nuts lol so i could be wrong .
here are the numbers. if someone would post stock numbers that would be awesome
mph/ rpm in 5th gear only
60=2700
65=3000
70=3100
75=3300
80=3600
90=4000
100=4500
I stand corrected, on the interestate today I was going 80mph and that was 3550-3600.ashooa said:LOL Me to but I think at 70 I am around 3250RPM?
I'm 90% that the final gear ratio is in the differential. (Like rear wheel drive cars)t3ase said:Unless I'm missing something, gear ratios don't just happen to change due to adding a new clutch and LSD. Did you order new gears?
